LAS VEGAS - Results of round 1 eliminations in Funny Car at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 20th annual Dodge NHRA Finals presented by Pennzoil:

Weather conditions: air temperature 75 degrees, relative humidity 6 percent, barometer 30.24 inches, track temperature 89 degrees.

Jack Beckman is 6 - 0 against Paul Lee and 5 - 0 in round 1. For his career Jack wins 71% of his first round matches.

He hasn't lost in round 1 in back-to-back events for 40 races.

Beckman with the starting line advantage and the lead until just past half track when Lee chased him down and took the win. Lee matched his qualifying E.T. for the win.

Paul Lee's MOV: 0.0353 seconds (approximately 16 feet).

Beckman's car started to push over to toward the wall, he stays with it. He runs his quickest pass of the weekend, but with the lost he is out of the Championship point chase.

Pedregon with a tick advantage on the tree, but Hagan had the lead by the time they go by the Christmas tree and never trailed from there on for the win. Hagan with the quickest and fastest pass of the event and will have lane choice over Lee in the next round.

Chris Morel is making his first start in the FC class. He is the 89th driver to face Capps in eliminations.

Morel with a fuel leak after the burnout and he is shut off.

Capps is up in smoke around 330 feet, but gets the win.

Tommy Johnson is 10 - 0 against Jim Campbell. He beat Jim in round 1 at the last two races.

Johnson Jr. with the starting line advantage and never trailed for the win. he keeps his Championship hopes alive.

Campbell started mixing up cylinders early and clicked it off.

Steven Densham's first race was here last year (lost rd. 1). This is just his 4th race and it's his best start (#11).

Alexander is 1 - 0 against Densham in prior events.

Densham with the starting line advantage, but was up in smoke by 330 feet.

Alexander grabbed the lead around half track, he dropped cylinder or two and the it had a big engine explosion. It blew the back half of the body of it. Alexander still coasted past the finish line for the win. He did a great job keeping the car in his lane. he will give up lane choice to DeJoria in the next round.

Todd is 7 - 6 against Wilkerson in prior events.

Tim Wilkerson and J.R. Todd are 3 - 3 in round 1 and 1 - 1 in round 1 this year.

Todd with the starting line advantage, he was behind at 330 feet. Wilkerson started to haze the tires around half track and Todd had the lead at the 1/8 mile mark. Todd started to haze the tires, but held on for the win.

After the finish line Wilkerson's car darted across the centerline, he got real close to Todd before he reeled it back into his lane. This will cost Wilkerson five points.
