"This will be a great way to showcase our local and regional racers in front of a tremendous crowd of NHRA fans and hopefully add to the growth and development of our series," said WWTR Executive Vice President and General Manager Chris Blair. "The top two in points in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle will face off in a three-round runoff to be named King of the Arch and receive a special-edition trophy produced exclusively for this event."
In addition for an opportunity to win the NHRA Arch title world championship, participants who register to compete to earn points in the 10-race Carl's 4WD & Performance bracket series also will be eligible for bonus cash awards at each event - as well as participation in the $100,000 Contingency Connection Racer Rewards program. Racers who earn points will eligible for weekly, mid-season and end-of season awards as well as contingency prizes for race wins in Super Pro, Pro and Sportsman classes.
"The Contingency Connection is back by popular demand. Our loyal racers enjoyed the many great prizes," continued Blair. "Ronnie Ball has done a tremendous job is securing great bonus sponsors. His special event programs are unique and the overall addition to our existing E.T. bracket series cash payouts, year-end point funds and special events truly benefit the working-class racer."
There will be a link on the WWTR website for racers to sign up for the points program. A complete set of rules will be posted on the WWTR website by March 2. Racers must sign up for the points program in order to be eligible for the contingency awards. If the winner is not registered for the points program, the award will go to the next racer who is.
The first Carl's 4WD & Performance E.T. Championship Series event will kick off on April 4 with a special appearance in conjunction with the return of the American Drag Racing League (ADRL). The series continues through Labor Day Weekend with a special doubleheader and NHRA King of the Track. Series points registration will begin on Monday, March 2, with weekly prize drawings for early entrants through April 2.
In addition to the 10-race point program, E.T. bracket racers also will have featured events throughout the season: with the VP Racing Fuels SuperStar Series, National Mustang Racing Association, National Muscle Car Association, Mother Road Rendezvous, UBDRA Black Sunday and NHRA.tv Challenge.
