Shawn Reed is coming off his first round upset of Steve Torrence in Dallas. Doug Kalitta won this race in 2004 and 2015. In the 18 years of this race the number nine qualifier in Top Fuel in 15 - 3 in the first round.
This is a great drag race to start race day.

Brown started to smoke the tires right off the
starting line and pedaled it. He got it to hook up, but couldn't chase him down.

He is coming off his win in Dallas and has an overall record 29 - 10 this year. This is just the second start for Justin Ashley. He went to the semi-final in his first Top Fuel start in Charlotte.
This is the first time Ashley and Torrence have faced each other in eliminations.

eight for the win. He will have lane choice over McMillen in the next round.
