LAS VEGAS - Results of round 1 eliminations in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 19th annual Dodge NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil:

Kalitta is 3 - 2 against Reed in prior events.

Shawn Reed is coming off his first round upset of Steve Torrence in Dallas. Doug Kalitta won this race in 2004 and 2015. In the 18 years of this race the number nine qualifier in Top Fuel in 15 - 3 in the first round.

This is a great drag race to start race day.

Kalitta with the starting line advantage and never trailed for the win. Doug Kalitta's MOV: 0.0223 seconds (approximately 11 feet). He runs his quickest pass of the weekend for the win.

Reed was straight down the groove with a nice pass in the losing effort.

Terry McMillen won here in 2017. Antron Brown won here in 2013. This is the seventh time this year that Antron has started from the bottom half of the field.

Brown is 20 - 4 against McMillen in prior events.

McMillen with the starting line advantage and never trailed for the win. He makes a good looking pass to start race day.

Brown started to smoke the tires right off the starting line and pedaled it. He got it to hook up, but couldn't chase him down.

Leah Pritchett was runner-up here last year. This is her 12th No. 1 qualifying spot and her first this year. She has won the race four times when starting from the top spot in the field. In 18 years of this event the No. 1 qualifier in Top Fuel has never lost in round 1. Cameron Ferre is making his 19th start.

Pritchett is 1 - 0 against Ferre in prior events.

Ferre with the starting line advantage, but Pritchett has the lead by 150 feet and never trailed for the win. Pritchett had holes out on the left side all the way down the track, but she held on for the win. Pritchett will give up lane choice to Kalitta in the next round.

Ferre with a clean pass in the losing effort.

Brittany Force was runner-up here in 2017. This is her 163rd start in Top Fuel. This is the 170th start for Pat Dakin. The No. 2 qualifier in Top Fuel is 17 - 1 in round 1 at this event.

Force with the starting line advantage and never trailed for the win. Force with a great looking pass, straight down the groove with the quickest pass of race day. She will have lane choice over Prock in the next round.

Dakin with problems right at the hit and clicked it off.

Billy Torrence starts the day in 4th place in the points. He is coming off his win in Dallas and has an overall record 29 - 10 this year. This is just the second start for Justin Ashley. He went to the semi-final in his first Top Fuel start in Charlotte.

This is the first time Ashley and Torrence have faced each other in eliminations.

Ashley with the starting line advantage, but is up in smoke right at the hit and clicks it off.

Torrence kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight for the win. He will have lane choice over McMillen in the next round.

Millican is too quick on the tree and turns on the red light to give Salinas the win. He then runs his quickest pass of the weekend in the losing effort.

Steve Torrence has won this race in two of the last three years. He has only lost 3 times this year in the first round but two of those losses have come in the Countdown. This is just the second race for Scott Palmer in the Countdown. In his other start (St. Louis) he qualified 12th and lost to Steve Torrence in round one.

Torrence is 11 - 0 against Palmer in prior events.

Torrence with the starting line advantage and never trailed for the win. He runs the second quickest pass of the race day. He will have lane choice over Salinas in the next round.

Palmer was up in smoke early and clicked it off.
