CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 12th annual NTK NHRA Carolina Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Andie Rawlings Runs 7.214/182.26, Now #2
Right Lane: Michael Ray Runs 6.977/191.65, Now #1

3:45 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 83 degrees, relative humidity 38 percent, barometer 29.37 inches, adjusted altitude 2,848 feet, track temperature 121 degrees.

Ray makes a decent pass for the conditions to set the early pace. Rawlings was off the throttle a little early.

Right Lane: Kelly Clontz Runs 7.082/192.47, Now #2

Clontz spun the tire off the line and it cost a lot of ET.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 6.883/194.52, Now #1
Right Lane: Scotty Pollacheck Runs 6.892/195.62, Now #2

Johnson goes down the groove with a good pass to take the early pole. Pollacheck makes a good pass to get in just behind in the second spot.

Steve Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.058 sec., 330ft-2.864, 660ft-4.397/160.63 mph, 1,000ft-5.735.

Scotty Pollacheck's incremental times: 60ft-1.087 sec., 330ft-2.900, 660ft-4.415/162.02 mph, 1,000ft-5.746.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Runs 6.909/195.85, Now #3
Right Lane: Ryan Oehler Runs 6.969/195.79, Now #4

Arana makes a good pass and gets in the show in the third spot for now. Oehler was a little sluggish off the line, a 1.139 sixty foot time, and he gets in the fourth spot for now.

Left Lane: Angie Smith Runs 6.956/193.32, Now #5
Right Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 6.872/196.70, Now #1

Smith makes a decent pass but had to really lean to get the bike to stay in the groove. Sampey goes down the groove with the quickest pass so far to take the top spot for now.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Jr Runs 6.935/196.64, Now #6
Right Lane: Jerry Savoie Runs 6.801/196.85, Now #1

Arana makes a decent pass to get in the sixth spot but was falling behind all the way through the run. Savoie makes an impressive pass to take the top spot for now.

Jerry Savoie's incremental times: 60ft-1.049 sec., 330ft-2.836, 660ft-4.342/162.65 mph, 1,000ft-5.664.

Left Lane: Matt Smith Runs 7.076/162.49, Now #11
Right Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.818/198.47, Now #2

Smith bogged a little off the line and was off the throttle early. Krawiec has a big speed but was a little slow off the line and he gets in the second spot for now.

Eddie Krawiec's incremental times: 60ft-1.075 sec., 330ft-2.863, 660ft-4.372/162.80 mph, 1,000ft-5.689.

Left Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 6.892/196.82, Now #5
Right Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 21.846/25.93, Now #15

Hines had traction problems right off the line and was off the throttle before he got 100 feet out. Stoffer makes a clean, straight pass and gets in the fifth spot to end the session.
