POMONA, Calif. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Pro Stock at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 54th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals:

Matt Hartford is making his 82nd start and his 12th from the top half of the field. Bo Butner is the defending event champion.

Butner is 4 - 1 against Hartford in prior events.

Hartford with a great light, but severe tire shake and pushed in the clutch.

Butner is straight down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend for the win. He runs top speed of the event in the win.

Tanner Gray clinched the championship yesterday. He was the runner-up last year at this race. Shane Gray, Tanner's dad, has raced three members of the Gray family (including his father, Johnny, and other son, Jonathan) and Tanner is the only one he hasn't beaten.

T. Gray is 2 - 0 against S. Gray in prior events.

They both do long burnouts...

Tanner with a near perfect light and never trailed for the win.

Greg Anderson's six wins here are the most for any active Pro Stock driver. Greg starts the day with 798 round wins and only three professional drivers have won 800 or more rounds in NHRA history. Fernando Cuadra is the 87th driver to face Greg in eliminations.

Cuadra with a slight starting line advantage, but Anderson has the difference made up by the time they went by the Christmas tree and never trailed for the win.

Anderson ties Butner for top speed of the event in the winning pass.

Erica Enders won here in 2014. This is a rematch of the final round in Topeka, a final that Deric Kramer won.

Kramer with the starting line advantage, but Enders had the difference made up by the time they went by the Christmas tree and never trailed form there on for the win. She runs the third quickest pass of the weekend. She will face the new champ Tanner Gray in the next round and will have lane choice.

Jason Line has been to the final round four times at this event, but he is still looking for his first win here. This is Jason's 898th round and only 14 pro drivers have competed in 900 or more rounds.

Nobile with the starting line advantage, but has severe tire shake right at the hit and pushes the clutch back in to give Line the win. He runs the fourth quickest pass of the event for the win and lane choice over laughlin in the next round.

Jeg Coughlin has six final round appearances and three Pro Stock wins at this event. This is his 993rd round and that is 12th most in all the pro classes. He is winless from the top spot in his last 13 tries including five this year. In 176 races this is just the ninth time that Kenny Delco has qualified 16th.

Coughlin is 3 - 1 against Delco in prior events.

Coughlin with the starting line advantage and never trailed for the win. Coughlin now has the third quickest pass of the weekend and the win. He will have lane choice Butner in the next round.

Delco had problems on the burnout and then had severe tire shake right at the hit and pushed in the clutch.
