BAYTOWN, Texas - Results of round 1 eliminations in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 31st annual NHRA SpringNationals:

Torrence is 1 - 0 against Kinsley in prior events.

Torrence with the starting line advantage and never trailed for the win. He made a great pass with the car getting loose on the top end.

Kinsley started to lose traction and pedaled, but couldn't get it to recover.

Steve Torrence has been the runner-up here in each of the last two years. This is the first time in 60 races that he has started from the bottom half of the field. This is the 92nd start for Scott Palmer and just the sixth time he has started from the top half of the field.

Palmer with a slight starting line advantage, but Torrence had the lead just past the 330-foot mark and makes his quickest pass of the weekend for the win. Steve Torrence's MOV: 0.0149 seconds (approximately 7 feet).

Palmer was on a great pass until it started to mix up cylinders in the lights.

Antron Brown won here in 2008 and 2014 and has also been runner-up twice. He starts the day with 683 round wins and that is sixth best in the pro classes. This is the 174th start for Terry McMillen.

Brown is 19 - 3 against McMillen in prior events.

Brown with a slight starting line advantage, but began to shake and he pedaled it and then started dropping cylinders around half track and clicked it off.

McMillen launched hard and was straight down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend for the win. He will give up lane choice to Billy Torrence in the next round.

Leah Pritchett is the defending event champion. In the 30 year history of this event only one Top Fuel driver has ever won it in back-to-back years. Terry Brian is making his first start at an NHRA national event and is the 561st driver to qualify for a Top Fuel show. The No. 16 qualifier in Top Fuel at this event has only won three times in the first round in the 30 year history of the race.

Pritchett with the starting line advantage and never trailed for the win. She runs the second quickest of the event and the quickest of race day for the win. She runs top speed of the event. She will have lane choice over Steve Torrence in the next round.

Brian launched with the wheels in the air and then dropped some cylinders...

Force with the starting line advantage and never trailed for the win. she was on a good looking pass until on the top end when it started to skate around and then the engine let go with a big boom. The word from the top end is there is oil on the track..Brittany Force was charged with an oildown, #2 for the season. That will cost 10 points and $2K.

Haddock started to lose traction early and then drop cylinders before he lifted.

Tony Schumacher has won this race twice. Bill Litton is the 100th different driver to face Tony in eliminations in Top Fuel.

Litton with the starting line advantage, but Schumacher has the lead by the time they go by the Christmas tree and never trails for there on for the win. He matches his qualifying E.T. and has the second quickest E.T. of race day.

Litton clicked it off just half track.

Clay Millican's final round appearance at this event in 2004 was the first final of his NHRA career. Mike Salinas is making his 16th start in Top Fuel.

Millican is 2 - 0 against Salinas in prior events.

Salinas is out of the gate first, but had severe tire shake right at the hit and he pedaled it and then was dropping a bunch of cylinders. Millican with tire shake also right off the starting line and pedaled and got it to hook up enough to get the win. He will give up lane choice to Schumacher in the next round.

Doug Kalitta has three wins at this event, 2003, 2015 and 2016. This is the 1,048th round for Doug and that is the seventh most among all Pro drivers. Richie Crampton is making his 83rd start in Top Fuel.

Crampton double-stepped it and turned on the red light to give Kalitta the win.

Kalitta launched hard and was straight down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend for the win. He will have lane choice over Force in the next round.
