POMONA, Calif. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 53rd annual Auto Club NHRA Finals:

Chip Ellis is running the Vance and Hines tribute bike for the recently departed Junior Pippin. He has already been in 33 final rounds, with a 33% win record. His record in round one is 59%. The bike is the 2018 prototype for the H-D team. Katie Sullivan has over a 28% win record in round one match ups. This is the first time Ellis and Sullivan have faced each other in eliminations.
Sullivan gets a big lead at the green and then has to watch Ellis ride on by for the win.
He will keep lane choice over Tonglet later.

Eddie Krawiec wrapped up the 2017 Pro Stock Motorcycle Championship yesterday by just qualifying for the race. His four wins at this race are second only to the five that John Myers won in the motorcycle class. Eddie's 43 wins are 3rd most in the motorcycle class. Lance Bonham is making his second first round appearance. This is the first time Krawiec and Bonham have faced each other in eliminations.
Bonham shows his skill with a nice starting line advantage. He is no match for Krawiec though.

Andrew Hines was the winner here in 2011 & 2012. He has won at least one race in every year since 2004 but he is winless so far in 2017. Ryan Oehler is making his second first round appearance. This is the first time Hines and Oehler have faced each other in eliminations.
Oehler bike has problems at the green and Hines gets an easy win. He keeps lane choice over Gladstone next round.
