POMONA, Calif. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Competition Eliminator at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 53rd annual Auto Club NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed this round, amount over/under index this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time, speed & over/under Index, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Jim Greenheck Runs 7.527/178.21/-0.693, Now #2; D/AA Index: 8.22, Prior Best: 7.551/178.24/-0.669, Was #2
Right Lane: Alan Ellis Runs 6.529/204.66/-0.701, Now #1; A/AP Index: 7.23, Prior Best: 6.511/205.19/-0.719, Was #1
11:19 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 64 degrees, relative humidity 65 percent, barometer 28.89 inches, adjusted altitude 2,157 feet, track temperature 75 degrees.
Ellis is the number one qualifier at -0.719 under his index and there is no bump
spot.
Two strong passes, but neither driver will improve their ET's.

WOW! Hyerstay gets it all together this pass and power right up from near the bottom of the ladder to right to the top!
Warter find some tune up too and moves up a spot to #16.

Mandella finds a dime and a spot on the ladder to #18.

Two improvements.
Sigmon gets two spots and Van Paepeghem stays #10.

Wheels up leave for Mozeris and the car drives out of the groove. He pulls it back in and loses a spot.
Lambeck gets the pass he was looking for and moves seven spots up the ladder into the top eight.

Snyder is coasting early.
Hedlund makes a much better pass this time and moves ten spots up the ladder to number three for now.

Both cars are wheels up at th green.
Skillman gets a full pass this time and joins the seventy under club and takes over the number four position.
McClay slows a little and gets pushed back to #12.

Mettler has a clean pass and is just a tad off yesterday's best to stay #7.

Rare starting line problem problem for Fletcher, as the Cobalt leaves before the green.
Jones makes a strong pass and moves up four spots on the ladder.
Left Lane: David Rampy Runs 7.196/182.87/-0.714, Now #3; A/EA Index: 7.91, Prior Best: 7.256/166.85/-0.654, Was #9
Rampy will get a single. The Bantam moves out of the groove at the green and he still powers up six spots on the ladder into the final #3 spot.
11:35 a.m. Hyerstay is number one at -0.757 and there is on bump spot.
