POMONA, Calif. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 52nd annual Auto Club NHRA Finals:

12:11 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 81 degrees, relative humidity 26 percent, barometer 28.95 inches, adjusted altitude 2,978 feet, track temperature 111 degrees.

Savoie is 4 - 0 against Smith in prior events. Jerry Savoie comes into today's eliminations with a narrow lead in the Championship Points. Hines, third in the point has a chance to spoil that, if they both make it to the semi-final round. Krawiec is second in point and these two can't meet until the final round. Savoie has won almost 56% of all of his races and is 60% in round one. Smith is making her 104th first round appearence with a 31% win record.

Savoie gets the head start and makes a strong pass for the will.

Arana Jr is 3 - 0 against Camarena in prior events. Hector Arana Jr. won here in 2014. He has a 72% win record in round one to date. Freddie Camarena is making his 50th first round appearance.

Just 0.006 difference in RT's and Arana pull steadily ahead for the win.

Johnson is 1 - 0 against Surber in prior events. Since the bikes became an official pro class in 1987 Steve Johnson is the only rider to appear at all 30 of the NHRA "Finals" events. His #8 qualifying position is his best at this race since 2004 and marks the first time this year he has started from the top half of the field at consecutive races. Today will mark his 367th first round start with almost a 42% win record. Melissa Surber is making her twelfth first round race and has already won one round.

Red light for Surber by -0.003. Easy win for Johnson. Savoie will have lane choice in round two.

Tonglet is 4 - 1 against Ellis in prior events. Ellis has won 60% of his prior 125 round one races. Tonglet is making his 100th first round appearance and has a 58% win record.

Tonglet gets a major head start , but is no match for a charging Ellis.

Ellis makes a strong pass close to his qualifying best and will have lane choice over Arana in round two.

Chip Ellis' incremental times: 60ft-1.056 sec., 330ft-2.845, 660ft-4.377/159.53 mph, 1,000ft-5.714.

12:15 p.m. Ellis can't get the bike stopped on the top end and the bike flies across the sand. He rolls off the bike right before the net. The Suzuki nails the net hard and actually hangs up on the net with the rear wheels up in the air. The top end guys are quickly to Ellis and carefully checking him out.

12:26 p.m. Back to racing. Smith is 18 - 10 against Arana in prior events. Matt Smith won this race in 2007. This is his 202nd first round appearance with a 65% win record. Arana is making his 232nd first round appearance with a 56% win record.

Weird! Arana doesn't do a burn out, stages and then goes red. He makes a clean pass though.

Hines is 3 - 1 against Reed in prior events. Andrew Hines won here in 2011 & 2012. Andrew starts the day with 423 round wins and that is 22nd on the all-time list of all pro drivers. When you consider the fact that the bikes don't run at all the races each year that is a very impressive number. Cory Reed is making his last appearence with Star Racing. He is starting a new Y-Not PSB team next year. He has a 67% win record in his prior twelve round one appearances.

Hines runs the boards with all of the numbers to take the easy win. Reed is off of his qualifying pace.

Andrew Hines' incremental times: 60ft-1.068 sec., 330ft-2.854, 660ft-4.385/159.76 mph, 1,000ft-5.728.

Krawiec is 17 - 1 against Gann in prior events. Eddie Krawiec is the defending and 4-time champion at this race. Eddie started the weekend tied with his teammate, Andrew Hines, for the points lead and that marked the first time in the history of the motorcycle class that there was a tie for the points lead. After qualifying, it's Savoie, Krawiec, Hines going into this round. Shawn Gann was won almost 47% of his first round races.

Gann goes red and Krawiec keeps his championship hopes alive with the best run of the session. He will keep lane choice over Smith in round two. Eddie Krawiec's incremental times: 60ft-1.067 sec., 330ft-2.849, 660ft-4.374/160.56 mph, 1,000ft-5.706.

Pollacheck is 1 - 0 against Sampey in prior events. Angelle Sampey has two wins here. She has won over 70% of all of her races and over 80% of round one match ups. Scotty Pollacheck has almost a 52% win record in his seventy-two prior first round races.

Pollacheck is in trouble early and gives the win to Sampey. She gives up lane choice to Hines later.

Angelle Sampey's incremental times: 60ft-1.063 sec., 330ft-2.868, 660ft-4.400/160.04 mph, 1,000ft-5.736.
