POMONA, Calif. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 52nd annual Auto Club NHRA Finals:

Weather conditions: air temperature 81 degrees, relative humidity 28 percent, barometer 28.98 inches, adjusted altitude 2,948 feet, track temperature 100 degrees.

Crampton is 7 - 4 against Force in prior events. Crampton with the starting line advantage and never trailed for the win. Force was up in smoke right at the hit and pedaled it, but couldn't get it to hook up.

Tony Schumacher has won this race four times and that is tied with Joe Amato and Don Garlits for the most in the Top Fuel class. Schumacher with the starting line advantage, but was up in smoke right at the hit. He let it settle down and got back on the throttle as was able to chase Millican down. Millican started to haze the tires just past the 330 foot mark and then the car went silent. Tony Schumacher's MOV: 0.0947 seconds (approximately 19 feet).

Antron Brown has won here in both Top Fuel and Pro Stock Motorcycle. He is one of three pro drivers to have won the "Finals" in more than one class (Bernstein & Worsham). Antron starts the day with 400 round wins in his TF career and that is 7th best in the history of the class..Morgan Lucas won here in 2014 and today he starts from the lucky #13 spot. The 13th qualifier has won exactly three times in round one at this event since 1983. Brown is 19 - 6 against Lucas in prior events. Lucas with the slight starting line advantage, but Brown had the difference made up by the time they went by the Christmas tree and never trailed from there on for the win. Brown with the quickest pass of the day for the win. Antron Brown's MOV: 0.0143 seconds (approximately 7 feet). Lucas with his quickest pass of the weekend in the losing effort.

Shawn Langdon is the defending event champion. This is the first time Tatum and Langdon have faced each other in eliminations. Tatum with a slight starting line advantage, but Langdon grabs the lead around 150 feet and never trailed from that point on for the win. Tatum matches his qualifying time in the losing effort. Shawn Langdon's MOV: 0.0388 seconds (approximately 18 feet).

This is the first time Reed and Kalitta have faced each other in eliminations. Kalitta with the starting line advantage and never trailed for the win. Kalitta with the quickest pass of the day for the win and lane choice over Schumacher in the second round. Reed was up in smoke around half track and clicked it off.

J.R. Todd qualified #1 for the 9th time in his career. He has never won a race when starting from the top spot. The #1 TF qualifier at this event has won just four times in the last 39 years. Troy Buff starts from #16 spot for the 14th time in his career. In the first round at this event the last qualifier in TF has won just 3 times since 1990. Todd is 5 - 2 against Buff in prior events. Buff goes red and then is up in smoke as soon as he hits the throttle. Todd slowed on the top end as it dropped a cylinder or two, but still gets the win. He will give up lane choice to Crampton in the next round.

This is the first time McMillen and Pritchett have faced each other in eliminations. Pritchett with the starting line advantage and never trailed for the win. She has the second quickest pass of race day and will have lane choice over Brown in the next round. McMillen started mixing up cylinders on the top end.

Steve Torrence starts from the #6 spot, the same spot he started from in Las Vegas when he won the race. Newby is 1 - 0 against Torrence in prior events. Newby with the starting line advantage, but Torrence has the lead when they go by the Christmas tree and never trailed form there on for the win. Torrence runs low E.T. of race day for the win and lane choice over Langdon in the second round. Steve Torrence's MOV: 0.0322 seconds (approximately 15 feet). Newby with a great pass in the losing effort.
