TOPEKA, Kan. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 28th annual NHRA Kansas Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Steve Burck No Time, Now #11; Best prior run: 10.167/78.64, Was #11
Right Lane: Mark Billington No Time, Now #12; Best prior run: 10.257/85.75, Was #12

Billington was leaking fluids on the burnout and was shut off. Burck was not able to get his car to fire.

Left Lane: Nancy Matter Runs 5.881/231.83, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.249/133.29, Was #10

Matter launched hard and got it to hook up and she makes her quickest and fastest pass of the year. Nancy Matter's incremental times: 60ft-1.040 sec., 330ft-2.630, 660ft-3.880/198.06 mph, 1,000ft-4.952.

Van Hauen with a real nice pass, straight down Broadway, but will stay in the number eight spot. He will hold on to the number one spot for the first time in his career.
