COMMERCE, Ga. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 36th annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.868/312.64, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.500/95.92, Was #14

Weather conditions: air temperature 80 degrees, relative humidity 38 percent, barometer 29.15 inches, adjusted altitude 2,846 feet, track temperature 92 degrees.

After delay for the sun to set enough so as not to blind the drivers. Millican launched hard and was straight down the groove with a great looking pass to get into the top half of the show. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.853 sec., 330ft-2.171, 660ft-3.096/274.78 mph.

Left Lane: Kyle Wurtzel Runs 4.571/167.51, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.131/109.03, Was #14
Right Lane: Scott Palmer Runs 4.008/295.08, Now #9; No Prior Run

Wurtzel is up in smoke just before half track and clicks it off, he will start over tomorrow. Palmer on his first pass of the day and is straight down the groove to get in the show. Scott Palmer's incremental times: 60ft-0.879 sec., 330ft-2.236, 660ft-3.195/263.51 mph.

Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 6.247/110.48, Now #15; Best prior run: 5.421/129.29, Was #15

Force launched hard and had the header flames shooting hight over the rear wing to go to the number one spot. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.837 sec., 330ft-2.142, 660ft-3.029/285.35 mph. McMillen is up in smoke early and clicks it off.

Right Lane: Leah Pritchett Runs 3.822/303.50, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.737/161.81, Was #14

Brown launched hard and keep it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number two spot. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.851 sec., 330ft-2.157, 660ft-3.041/286.44 mph. Pritchett was right there with Brown until just past half track when it started to mix up cylinders and then the engine let go with a quick fireball right in the lights. Leah Pritchett's incremental times: 60ft-0.848 sec., 330ft-2.160, 660ft-3.056/284.03 mph. She still goes to the number four spot.

This was a great side-by-side drag race...Langdon was hitting on eight all the way down the track to go to the number three spot. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.834 sec., 330ft-2.138, 660ft-3.032/283.91 mph. Todd launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number one spot. J.R. Todd's incremental times: 60ft-0.840 sec., 330ft-2.129, 660ft-3.018/287.96 mph.

Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.731/328.70, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.845/318.17, Was #9

Schumacher with good looking pass, straight down the groove to get into the top half of the show. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.847 sec., 330ft-2.156, 660ft-3.059/282.13 mph. Kalitta with a great pass with header flames shooting high over the rear wing to go to the number one spot. Kalitta with the track E.T. record on this pass. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.844 sec., 330ft-2.130, 660ft-3.001/293.03 mph.

This was a great side-by-side drag race to wrap up day one of qualifying. Crampton is straight down the groove to go to the number two spot. Richie Crampton's incremental times: 60ft-0.847 sec., 330ft-2.141, 660ft-3.019/289.20 mph. Torrence is right there with him to go to the number four spot. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.852 sec., 330ft-2.153, 660ft-3.031/289.63 mph.
