BAYTOWN, Texas -- This video news release contains video of the Saturday’s No. 1 qualifiers at Royal Purple Raceway

Tim Wilkerson raced to the No. 1 qualifying position in Funny Car Saturday during the NHRA SpringNationals.

Steve Torrence (Top Fuel) and Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) also earned No. 1 qualifiers in their respective categories at the sixth event of the 2016 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season.

Funny Car No. 1 qualifier Tim Wilkerson drove his Levi, Ray & Shoup Ford Shelby Mustang to a 3.899 second pass at 327.59 mph.

This is Wilkerson’s first No. 1 of the season and 18th of his career. Wilkerson is coming off of a win last weekend in Charlotte, N.C. His time is a career best and a Royal Purple Raceway track record. Wilkerson won this event in 2004.

Top Fuel No. 1 qualifier Steve Torrence drove his Capco Contractors/Torrence Racing dragster to 3.724 second pass at 329.42 mph.

This is Steve Torrence’s fourth No. 1 of the season and his third in-a-row. He has nine top qualifiers in his career. His time is a Royal Purple track record. He has one win so far this season. He is a Kilgore, Texas, native.

Pro Stock No. 1 qualifier Greg Anderson drove his Summit Racing Equipment Chevy Camaro to a 6.589 second pass at 210.41 mph.

This is Anderson’s third No. 1 of the year and 83rd of his career. Anderson has two wins so far this season and won the Houston event in 2004 and 2008.
