POMONA, Calif. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 56th annual Circle K NHRA Winternationals:

This is the first time Grisel and Shields have faced each other in eliminations. Shields has a 64% first round win ratio. Grisel running eliminations for the seventh time and is looking for his second round one win. Grisel is a No Show and Shields will get a single.
He gets way close to the center line and wisely clicks it early. Shake and spin
are not good.

Bradshaw has a 70% first round ratio, but Sanford is just a little more than 14%.
Two "not so good" passes.
Sanford strikes the tire off the line and coasts.
Bradshaw
has a big starting line advantage and looked to have an easy win, when an apparent fuel line failure puts it at risk. He coasts on
down for the lucky win.

She is the 34th woman to qualify in TAD. Cowie has over a 68% win record in round one match ups.
Baldwin is a little late and then has a bunch of pipes go wet to spoil her debut.
Strong pass for Cowie for the easy win. He would have been tough to beat anyway!

Demke gets away first and pulls hard down the track. He is able to stay there until right at the 1000 foot mark, where Ahten's fuels sneaks on by for the ten foot win.

McKernan shakes and spins. She pumps the pedal, hicks the front end, and chases to no avail.
Severance runs from A to B without and issue and will face Shields in round two with lane choice.
