POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 56th annual Circle K NHRA Winternationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Garrett Bateman Runs 5.418/261.52, Now #10; Best prior run: 28.522/30.71, Was #16
Right Lane: Derik Milanesio Runs 9.128/90.55, Now #15; Best prior run: 15.894/75.09, Was #15
2:36 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 84 degrees, relative humidity 24 percent, barometer 28.94 inches, adjusted altitude 3,194 feet, track temperature 109 degrees.
Don St. Arnaud is number one at 5.181 and Garrett Bateman is on the bump spot
at 28.522.
Milanesio is in and out of the throttle early and slows.
Bateman gets it all together this time and makes
a strong pass. There is a cylinder out around half track.

Cameron Ferre is on the bump spot at 15.236.
Lots of cylinders out down track with Ferre losing the least. He picks up the pace from yesterday and six spots on the ladder to number 10.
Litton matches his prior ET to the thousandth, but the speed shows the lack of power on the top end.

Cameron Ferre's incremental times: 60ft-0.935 sec., 330ft-2.455, 660ft-3.594/220.40 mph, 1,000ft-4.560.

Right Lane: Casey Grisel Runs 5.405/263.72, Now #10; Best prior run: 9.106/92.68, Was #15
Derik Milanesio is on the bump spot at 9.128.
A side by side pair this time. Grisel was second off the line, but has the better number to move five spots up the ladder to the new #10 spot.
Clean looking pass for Sanford, but the car slows from yesterday to stay #7.

Casey Grisel's incremental times: 60ft-0.968 sec., 330ft-2.474, 660ft-3.599/221.31 mph, 1,000ft-4.563.

Ahten's dragster is up in smoke before the 330 lights.
Bradshaw makes another clean pass, just a little slower than yesterday to stay #6.

Left Lane: Joey Severance Runs 5.263/272.34, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.255/272.39, Was #4

Baldwin matches Ahten's pass, smoking the tires about the 330 lights.
Severance makes like a bracket racer with another strong pass, close to yesterday's best.

Shields is up in smoke about 100 feet out.
McKernan fueler drives towards the center line and lifts before the 660 lights.
Left Lane: Gord Gingles Runs 19.445/37.66, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.234/276.35, Was #2
Right Lane: Shawn Cowie Runs 5.618/227.73, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.349/270.70, Was #8
Gingles is up in smoke at the green.
Cowie has a quick pedal slap right off the line and pushes the alcohol dragster on down the track.

Left Lane: Don St. Arnaud Runs 5.347/279.27, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.181/285.05, Was #1

St. Arnaud's turn to do a little quick pedaling. The front end goes up in the air and flies for a long time. WOW!
Demke's tune up is too strong for the track and he is up in smoke early.
