POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Competition Eliminator at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 51st annual Auto Club NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, amount over/under index, and position in order following run, class and class index:
Right Lane: Brad Brewer Runs 7.229/191.81/-0.331, Now #1 B/A Index: 7.56
12:12 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 70 degrees, relative humidity 19 percent, barometer 28.90 inches, adjusted altitude 2,199 feet, track temperature 93 degrees.
Strong leave for Brewer to start the session, but he is a little off
the pace on the top end.
Left Lane: Lucky Snyder Runs 13.897/63.75/5.357, Now #2 F/A Index: 8.54
Right Lane: Randy Jones Runs 17.818/50.47/9.468, Now #3 I/SMA Index: 8.35
Two strong leaves and Jones is quickly off the throttle right after that. Snyder gets a little further and lifts too.
Left Lane: Scott McClay Runs 7.243/181.81/-0.587, Now #1 C/ED Index: 7.83
Right Lane: Raymond Martin Runs 7.633/169.70/-0.567, Now #2 K/AA Index: 8.20
Much better! Two great looking passes up near the sixty under mark.

Raymond Martin's incremental times: 60ft-1.082 sec., 330ft-3.104, 660ft-4.824/142.29 mph, 1,000ft-6.330.
Left Lane: Tyler Hogan Runs 7.081/188.91/-0.419, Now #4 C/DA Index: 7.50
Right Lane: Jeff Lane Runs 7.958/169.04/-0.542, Now #3 B/SMA Index: 8.50
Hogan test the lights and misses by just -0.009.
Left Lane: Ray Skillman Runs 7.569/176.56/-0.601, Now #1 B/EA Index: 8.17
Right Lane: Mark Lelchook Runs 7.371/178.87/-0.539, Now #5 D/ED Index: 7.91
Skillman makes another great pass and gives us our first sixty under number to shot for. Lelchook bounces the front wheels off the starting line and makes a good pass too.

Left Lane: Ed Sigmon Runs 8.997/109.16/0.047, Now #9 C/SR Index: 8.95
Right Lane: Steve Graham Runs 7.336/167.30/-0.524, Now #6 C/A Index: 7.86
Sigmon was on a good pass until after the 330 lights and then slowed.
Clean pass for Graham.

Lee is off the throttle early and still cards a great time.

They run side by side down the track and finish #1 and #2.

David Rampy's incremental times: 60ft-1.018 sec., 330ft-2.914, 660ft-4.543/150.18 mph, 1,000ft-5.965.
Left Lane: Jim Greenheck Runs 7.211/186.95/-0.649, Now #1 C/AA Index: 7.86
Right Lane: David Billingsley Runs 8.673/155.35/-0.597, Now #5 L/A Index: 9.27
That didn't take long to change. Greenheck takes his Camaro to the new top spot wit ease.
Billingsley just misses the six second party for the current #5.

Right Lane: Doug Lambeck Runs 8.334/160.33/-0.546, Now #13 D/SMA Index: 8.88
Wheels up leave for Lamb and the new #8 spot. Clean pass for Lambeck.
Left Lane: Dan Fletcher Runs 8.034/151.10/-0.566, Now #11 C/EA Index: 8.60
Fletcher is last [of course] and puts a representative number on the boards.
12:31 p.m. Green heck is number one at -0.649 under his index. Field not filled, no bump spot.
