ENNIS, Texas - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 30th annual AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Right Lane: Shawn Reed No Time, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 90 degrees, relative humidity 35 percent, barometer 29.59 inches, adjusted altitude 3,021 feet, track temperature 115 degrees.

Reed's car went silent as soon as he hit the throttle and then rolled about 50 feet.

Left Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 4.910/150.15, Now #1
Right Lane: Kebin Kinsley Runs 7.119/60.24, Now #2

McClenathan started mixing up cylinders around half track and clicked it off. Kinsley's engine let go with a huge explosion...the word from the track is there is oil on the track. That is his first oil down of the season, so it will cost him $1000.

Left Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 3.794/321.96, Now #1
Right Lane: Jenna Haddock Runs 6.390/97.36, Now #3

Torrence launched hard and keep it hooked up to make a good looking pass. Billy Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.831 sec., 330ft-2.141, 660ft-3.044/283.31 mph. Haddock started to smoke the tires early and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Troy Buff Runs 3.852/311.63, Now #2
Right Lane: Pat Dakin Runs 4.639/163.69, Now #3

Buff with a good looking pass to start the weekend. Troy Buff's incremental times: 60ft-0.835 sec., 330ft-2.155, 660ft-3.076/274.55 mph. Dakin started to drop cylinders early and then clicked it off.

Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 3.988/285.47, Now #4
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.935/305.36, Now #3

This was a good clean drag race by both cars...to numbers three and four. Terry McMillen's incremental times: 60ft-0.862 sec., 330ft-2.216, 660ft-3.171/263.10 mph.
Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.841 sec., 330ft-2.182, 660ft-3.139/265.12 mph.

Left Lane: Dave Connolly Runs 3.835/322.65, Now #2
Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.849/308.92, Now #3

Connolly launched hard and keep it hooked to go to the number two spot. Dave Connolly's incremental times: 60ft-0.853 sec., 330ft-2.179, 660ft-3.084/281.77 mph. Torrence was right there with connolly to go to the number three spot. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.848 sec., 330ft-2.168, 660ft-3.075/278.75 mph.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.919/307.65, Now #5
Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.996/257.53, Now #8

Kalitta dropped a cylinder or two early, but still gets into the top half of the show. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.837 sec., 330ft-2.180, 660ft-3.129/267.96 mph. Langdon started to haze the tires on the top end and clicked it off..

Right Lane: Richie Crampton Runs 3.813/317.87, Now #2

Todd started to haze the tires early and clicked it off. Crampton was straight down the groove to go to the number two spot. Richie Crampton's incremental times: 60ft-0.841 sec., 330ft-2.158, 660ft-3.058/282.24 mph.

Right Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.825/318.99, Now #4

This was a great side-by-side drag race as these two go to the number two and four spots. Larry Dixon's incremental times: 60ft-0.848 sec., 330ft-2.154, 660ft-3.056/282.90 mph.
Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.841 sec., 330ft-2.164, 660ft-3.069/280.78 mph.
