Smith is 1 - 0 against Knowles in prior events and this is the first time they have faced each other in a final round. Smith the starting line advantage, but Knowles grabbed the lead by 150 feet and never trailed from there on for the win. Mike Knowles' MOV: 0.0191 seconds (approximately 7 feet). Knowles wins this race in back to back years. This is second National event win.
