LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Competition Eliminator at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Pacific Division, Short Line Express Market Gambler Shootout listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, amount over/under index, and position in order following run, class and class index:
Left Lane: Dale Giroux Runs 7.063/194.83/-0.547, Now #1 B/AA Index: 7.61
Right Lane: Guy Napolitano Runs 8.223/160.37/-0.107, Now #2 D/AA Index: 8.33
5:05 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 73 degrees, relative humidity 27 percent, barometer 28.05 inches, adjusted altitude 3,499 feet, track temperature 79 degrees.
Left Lane: John Keilers Runs 12.508/88.57/5.338, Now #4 A/DA Index: 7.17
Right Lane: Aaron Strong Runs 8.272/161.59/-0.558, Now #1 B/T Index: 8.83
Keilers has problems early and clicks it off. Strong makes a good run to take the early pole.
Left Lane: Ralph Van Paepeghem Runs 7.386/178.02/-0.534, Now #3 A/EA Index: 7.92
Right Lane: Lucky Snyder Runs 12.382/71.85/3.352, Now #5 G/A Index: 9.03
Van Paepeghem gets a little out of shape early in the run but still makes a decent pass. Snyder has problems and is off the throttle early.
Left Lane: Mike DePalma Runs 8.298/159.68/-0.542, Now #4 I/A Index: 8.84
Right Lane: David Rampy Runs 7.360/178.83/-0.560, Now #1 A/EA Index: 7.92
Rampy makes a good run to move into the top spot for now. DePalma makes a decent run and gets in the fourth spot.
Left Lane: Jeff Lane Runs 8.097/166.56/-0.583, Now #1 B/SMA Index: 8.68
Right Lane: Alan Ellis Runs 6.664/201.58/-0.556, Now #4 A/AP Index: 7.22
Lane makes a good run to take over the top spot for now. Ellis goes in the fourth spot for now.
Left Lane: Shaun Vincent Runs 8.500/155.72/-0.580, Now #2 C/TA Index: 9.08
Right Lane: Mark Lelchook Runs 10.105/107.50/2.085, Now #10 D/ED Index: 8.02
Lelchook has problems and clicks it off early.
