ENNIS, Texas - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 29th annual AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Right Lane: Todd Odom Runs 5.662/263.62, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 87 degrees, relative humidity 57 percent, barometer 29.36 inches, adjusted altitude 3,407 feet, track temperature 115 degrees.

Odom with a good looking pass to start the weekend.

Left Lane: Aaron Tatum Runs 5.484/264.70, Now #1
Right Lane: Lee Callaway Runs 6.588/108.51, Now #3

Tatum with a good looking pass, straight down the groove. Aaron Tatum's incremental times: 60ft-0.967 sec., 330ft-2.510, 660ft-3.667/217.63 mph, 1,000ft-4.644. Callaway's chutes were out early.

Left Lane: Buddy Domingue Runs 5.610/266.95, Now #2
Right Lane: Karl Brounkowski Runs 6.374/227.69, Now #4

Domingue was dropping cylinders right at the hit, but he stayed with it and it clean up nicely to go to the number two spot. Buddy Domingue's incremental times: 60ft-0.985 sec., 330ft-2.588, 660ft-3.789/211.56 mph, 1,000ft-4.776. Brounkowski just labored down the track.

Right Lane: Ashley Sanford Runs 16.721/61.16, Now #7

Thompson with real nice pass to go to the number one spot. James Thompson's incremental times: 60ft-0.955 sec., 330ft-2.471, 660ft-3.611/222.44 mph, 1,000ft-4.583. Ashley was up in smoke right at the hit.`

Right Lane: Shayne Lawson Runs 5.366/271.68, Now #1

Brounkowski was up in smoke right off the starting line and clicked it off. Lawson launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Shayne Lawson's incremental times: 60ft-0.958 sec., 330ft-2.463, 660ft-3.590/222.77 mph, 1,000ft-4.544.

Left Lane: Megan McKernan Runs 5.540/264.75, Now #5
Right Lane: John Finke Runs 5.439/262.54, Now #3

This was a good side-by-side drag race...They go to the number three and five spots. McKernan had a whisp of tire smoke right at the hit, but drove through it to make a nice pass. Finke was straight down the groove.

Right Lane: Marty Thacker Runs 5.426/262.54, Now #3

Copeland was up in smoke right at the hit and clicked it off. Thacker launched hard and was straight down the groove to go to the number three spot. Marty Thacker's incremental times: 60ft-0.931 sec., 330ft-2.402, 660ft-3.565/212.03 mph, 1,000ft-4.570.
