CONCORD, N.C. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Pro Modified at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Seventh annual Pep Boys NHRA Carolina Nationals:

This would have been a very close race, but Stevenson was late and Janis won by a couple car lengths.

This was an incredible race...the usually prompt Rickie Smith was not quite as quick as usual and Von Smith pulled off a very tight holeshot victory. Von Smith's incremental margins: 60ft(0.041), 330 ft(0.058), 660ft(0.039), 1,000ft(0.019). MOV: 0.0007 seconds (approximately 3 inches).

This was close at the start, but Glidden steadily pulled ahead by about half a car length and stayed there for the win.

Glidden will have lane choice against Matusek in round 2.

Walsh successfully drove through some early tire shake to retake the lead and stay there.

Walsh faces Coughlin in the second round and they both ran the same ET. Coughlin gets lane choice - by 0.04 mph.
