IMMOKALEE, Fla. --
Immokalee Regional Raceway has become home to one of the most popular racer events on the IHRA calendar as track operator Ralph Hester rolls out the red carpet for IHRA's best racers for two full days of drag racing action. Its location in southern Florida is one major draw, but it is Hester's hospitality that keeps the racers coming back year after year. "We are already preparing for this great event. We are getting the big tent put up now and we welcome racers with open arms for a great weekend capped off with a huge party Saturday night," Hester said. "We are looking forward to seeing all of our good friends and having another great race. We had a good crowd last year and we can't wait to see everyone out again this year." This completely open Wild Card event will feature racers from multiple IHRA Summit Pro-Am Tour divisions as racers can count this race as an in-division claim regardless of home division. This classification has led to several great races over the years as the best racers in the south - and some from the north - battle it out in one of the first official races of the 2014 season. The first official IHRA race of the 2014 season will get underway on Saturday, February 1 with the first of two separate Summit Pro-Am Tour races. Racing gets underway both days at 9 a.m. with a huge racer party scheduled for Saturday night following final eliminations. Gates will open on Friday, January 31 for parking with the first tires hitting the pavement Friday evening for a test and tune.
