National Trail Raceway Announces the 2014 schedule

"The Super Strip." Celebrating its 50th year of great NHRA Drag Racing

HEBRON, Ohio -- National Trail Raceway is excited to announce the 2014 schedule for "The Super Strip." Celebrating its 50th year of great NHRA Drag Racing, the facility near Columbus, Ohio will have another packed schedule for fans and racers. New for 2014 will be the biggest event for the Super Stock and Stock racing community, a return of one of the most talked about events from NTR's past, and a new series for Street-legal vehicles on a new night of racing action.

The 50th anniversary season has already begun in the early hours of New Year's Day with the inaugural New Year's Eve Bash, but the action takes off in earnest on Sunday, March 30th with the first of two scheduled Test and Tune events for all race and street cars to prepare for the 2014 season.

On April 11th, the track will host the first scheduled NTR ET Series Test Session. Set up like previous year's Friday Night sessions, the NTR ET Series Test Session events will be focused on those race cars and motorcycles that run the Wednesday and Weekend points series. During the weekend of April 12th and 13th, the first two of 12 scheduled JEGS ET - Summit Series Point events will rocket down the track. In addition to the opening ET weekend, the first of five JEGS.com Junior Dragster Quick 330 events will be held on Sunday.

12The first of the Wednesday Night races, featuring classes from Sport Compact to Big Dawg will take place on Wednesday, April 24th in a non-points opener. The 12 race NTR - JEGS Wednesday Night Summer Points Series will begin on May 21st.

The always popular Blitz Street Fights will have a new twist in 2014. First, the series will return to a single weekday throughout the year like in the past but on Thursday Nights instead of Friday. The Blitz Thursday Night Street Fights will be held seven times throughout the year beginning on May 8th. This series is open to cars and motorcycles currently licensed, registered, and have mufflers and DOT tires at all times. Test & Tune, along with eliminations, will be held throughout the night during these events.

The specialty events are also back on the schedule for the 2014 season. A special No Hatin' Drag Racing Series Warm-up will kick off the special events on April 25th to the 26th, followed by the Spring Import Faceoff on Sunday, April 27th. Two new events will be a part of the first half of the season as the Inaugural Auto Meter Northern Class Nationals featuring the very best Super Stock and Stock racers in the nation gathering for a special weekend devoted to the core of drag racing on May 2nd to the 4th. Jeff Johnson Motorsports also will be hosting The Chrysler Power Classic at NTR from May 17th to the 18th.

Returning to the track on Saturday, May 10th is the legendary QFM Streetnationals at National Trail. "Q Day" has long been a unique event from the past and for the 50th anniversary it combines with the annual King of Columbus Heads-Up Shootout as well as other exciting attractions and entertainment to make it a race & roll party you won't forget. If you remember being at previous Q Day events here at NTR, (or if you just heard that you were here but don't really remember) then don't miss the return in 2014.

June has the 2nd annual NHDRO Motorcycle Madness event returning on June 6th through the 8th for those on two-wheels. The month is ended with the 15th anniversary of the JEGS Foundation Buckeye Open Midwest Junior Dragster Super Series event on June 27th to the 29th.

After taking the 4th of July weekend off, NTR goes full throttle into the heart of the special events with the 17th Annual GoodGuys Friday Night Drags on July 11th. Things really heat up the very next day when the jet car contingent tries to set NTR on fire during the 27th annual McGlaughlin Oil Night of Thunder.

The rush of over 280 miles per hour and nitro will return to NTR with the annual NHRA Buckeye Fuel Wars NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series on July 18th - 20th. In addition to all the great Lucas Oil Regional racing, the Buckeye Fuel Wars will include the NHRA Harley Davidson Drag Racing Series featuring the very best in Harley Davidson drag racing, including 6-second Nitro Harley, AND the official celebration of NTR's 50th Anniversary with special guests and historic race cars on display.

Every MOPAR lover's dream event returns to NTR on August 8th to the 10th with the 34th Annual 'Nats. The mecca for MOPAR fans will flood into Central Ohio from all corners of the globe for this annual extravaganza. August concludes with Labor Day Weekend and the longest running event on the NTR schedule, the Ford Expo, on August 29th to the 31st.

The special events wind down during the month of September. The Chevy Performance Nationals moves to September 12th to the 14th. The stars of the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series return reaching for the elusive JEGS Crown and National Event points at the 10th annual JEGS Northern SPORTSnationals September 19th to the 21st. The year will conclude with the Fall Import Faceoff on September 28th and the crowning of Ohio High School State Champions during the OHSAA State Cross Country Meet in November.

All in all, an exciting year of racing action will once again take to the track at NTR. In addition to the great events listed above, the regular JEGS ET - Summit Series, Wednesday Night Summer Series, John Holt Nitrous Shootout, VP Racing Fuels Super 32, and JEGS Quick 330 Shootout will once again battle for Track Championship all season long.
