MOHNTON, Pa. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 29th annual Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Right Lane: John Fiorini Runs 6.195/203.95, Now #1

11:29 a.m. - Weather conditions: air temperature 74 degrees, relative humidity 69 percent, barometer 29.51 inches, adjusted altitude 2,298 feet, track temperature 82 degrees.

Left Lane: Duane Beers Runs 7.832/95.24, Now #3
Right Lane: Matt Gill Runs 7.438/129.89, Now #2

Gill got out to about 400 feet then drifted out of the groove and toward the wall. He rode near the wall for 200 feet or so, then shut down early. Beers' care broke a blower belt at mid-track.

Left Lane: Tony Bogolo No Time, Now #3
Right Lane: DJ Cox Jr. No Time, Now #2

Left Lane: Tony Bogolo Runs 6.101/235.93, Now #1
Right Lane: DJ Cox Jr. No Time, Now #5

Cox launched and his car had problems right away, so he clicked it off and came to a rest at mid-track. Bogolo's car started to hop and bounce out of the gate, then started to get sideway before he clicked it off and coasted down the track.

Left Lane: Eric Lourie Runs 5.772/248.29, Now #1
Right Lane: Marie Ferriolo Runs 5.817/248.02, Now #2

Lourie and Ferriolo had a pair of nice passes to take the top two spots in the order for now.

Left Lane: John Headley Runs 6.281/209.14, Now #6
Right Lane: Fred Tigges Runs 5.959/250.55, Now #3

Both runs looked okay but Headley's car never really got up to speed.

Left Lane: John Anderika Runs 5.648/255.15, Now #1
Right Lane: Mickey Ferro Runs 5.651/260.06, Now #2

Two good runs that put Anderika and ferro at the top of the order for now.

Left Lane: Paul Noakes Runs 5.723/256.99, Now #3
Right Lane: Chris Foster Runs 13.032/64.11, Now #12

Foster's car had a problem out of the gate so he coasted down the track.

Left Lane: Andy Bohl Runs 5.630/256.89, Now #1
Right Lane: Todd Veney Runs 5.666/253.99, Now #4

Bohl took over the top spot in the order for now with a nice run. Veney was just a bit slower.

Left Lane: Dan Pomponio Runs 5.753/254.76, Now #6
Right Lane: Frank Manzo Runs 6.043/255.10, Now #10

Manzo was slow out of the gate and never got up to the speed he's run in the past.
