MADISON, Ill. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Second annual AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Steve Matusek Runs 6.059/247.79, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.931/222.00, Was #22
Right Lane: Todd Tutterow Runs 7.090/147.44, Now #23; Best prior run: 8.719/105.37, Was #24

Matusek with his quickest pass of the weekend to get in the show. Steve Matusek's incremental times: 60ft-1.014 sec., 330ft-2.732, 660ft-4.059/191.48 mph, 1,000ft-5.149. Tutterow started to shake early and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Pete Farber Runs 6.367/237.50, Now #22; Best prior run: 6.738/139.26, Was #22

Farber with his quickest pass of the weekend, but he will not get in the show. Hance launched hard and was straight down the groove to get in the show. David Hance's incremental times: 60ft-1.044 sec., 330ft-2.742, 660ft-4.016/196.27 mph, 1,000ft-5.090.

Muenks launched hard and keep it hooked up to get in the show. Ron Muenks' incremental times: 60ft-0.988 sec., 330ft-2.620, 660ft-3.932/188.91 mph, 1,000ft-5.052. Juliano with his quickest pass of the weekend, but he will not get in the show.

Right Lane: Clint Satterfield Runs 6.956/154.79, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.047/240.81, Was #17

Hamstra with his quickest pass of the weekend, but he will not get in the show. Satterfield was real loose right at the hit and made a quick move toward the centerline and clicked it off to keep it in his lane.

Right Lane: Dan Stevenson Runs 5.959/244.34, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.022/239.36, Was #15

Janis launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number nine spot with the quickest pass of the round. Mike Janis' incremental times: 60ft-1.002 sec., 330ft-2.637, 660ft-3.934/184.60 mph, 1,000ft-5.023. Stevenson with his quickest pass this weekend to move up to the number 11 spot. Stevenson with the second quickest pass of the round. Dan Stevenson's incremental times: 60ft-1.001 sec., 330ft-2.659, 660ft-3.949/192.55 mph, 1,000ft-5.040.

Left Lane: Kevin Rivenbark Runs 6.054/235.15, Now #19; Best prior run: 6.091/235.10, Was #20

Rivenbark with his quickest pass of the weekend, but he will not get in the show.

Left Lane: Harold Martin Runs 6.059/235.31, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.042/236.34, Was #17
Right Lane: Mike Knowles Runs 6.015/244.29, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.978/243.63, Was #12

Martin will not improve and will not get in the show. No help here for Knowles.

King was out of the groove and close to the wall around half track. Smith with another good pass, but will not improve. Von Smith's incremental times: 60ft-0.976 sec., 330ft-2.611, 660ft-3.913/190.73 mph, 1,000ft-5.019.

Left Lane: Troy Coughlin Runs 7.799/122.96, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.944/249.67, Was #8
Right Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 5.931/243.37, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.924/243.68, Was #5

Coughlin pulled the wheels up around 300 feet and clicked it off. Smith with another good pass, but will not improve.

Right Lane: Danny Rowe Runs 5.944/244.69, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.916/245.45, Was #4

Castellana with a great looking pass, the quickest pass of the round. Mike Castellana's incremental times: 60ft-0.994 sec., 330ft-2.645, 660ft-3.921/195.00 mph, 1,000ft-5.004. Rowe with another good looking pass, the third quickest of the round. Danny Rowe's incremental times: 60ft-0.986 sec., 330ft-2.634, 660ft-3.930/192.63 mph, 1,000ft-5.024.

Left Lane: Jim Laurita Runs 5.878/245.36, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.854/245.23, Was #1
Right Lane: Kenny Lang Runs 5.936/245.54, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.908/246.21, Was #2

This was a great looking side-by-side drag race to wrap up Pro Mod qualifying. Laurita launched hard and keep it hooked up with the quickest pass of the round. Jim Laurita's incremental times: 60ft-0.992 sec., 330ft-2.618, 660ft-3.883/196.22 mph, 1,000ft-4.962. Lang with a great looking pass, the fourth quickest of the round. Kenny Lang's incremental times: 60ft-0.995 sec., 330ft-2.634, 660ft-3.923/193.21 mph, 1,000ft-5.017.
