MADISON, Ill. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Second annual AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Chris Karamesines Runs 4.137/221.85, Now #10; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 10.116/83.87, Now #22; Best prior run: 7.326/88.54, Was #21

Weather conditions: air temperature 79 degrees, relative humidity 44 percent, barometer 29.55 inches, adjusted altitude 2,357 feet, track temperature 88 degrees.

Karamesines was on a good pass until 660 feet and the his engine let go with a huge fireball. the word from the top end is there is oil on the track. McClenathan had severe tire shake right at the hit.

Right Lane: Troy Buff Runs 6.920/81.61, Now #21; Best prior run: 6.685/86.84, Was #21

Palmer is up in smoke right at the hit and clicks it off and Buff also loses traction and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Pat Dakin Runs 9.784/61.36, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.789/153.79, Was #17
Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 6.186/99.54, Now #20; Best prior run: 6.065/103.26, Was #20

Dakin is up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle and clicked it off. Torrence started to smoke the tires around 200 feet and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Luigi Novelli Runs 4.473/182.21, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.676/163.37, Was #15
Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 5.124/136.25, Now #18; Best prior run: 4.963/146.26, Was #18

Novelli's engine let go with a boomer and a quick flash of flames before the engine went silent. McMillen started to lose traction early and clicked it off.

Left Lane: David Grubnic Runs 3.818/323.58, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.500/173.34, Was #14
Right Lane: Tim Cullinan Runs 8.087/75.09, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.698/165.21, Was #16

Grubnic launched hard and keep it hooked up all the way down the track to go to the number one spot. David Grubnic's incremental times: 60ft-0.851 sec., 330ft-2.159, 660ft-3.068/280.25 mph. Cullinan with a lot of tire shake right at the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.795/308.92, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.198/208.36, Was #12
Right Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 3.840/318.92, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.532/170.62, Was #15

Force launched hard and had the header flames shooting high over the rear wing all the way down the track. She runs her career quickest pass and it appears the car wasn't under power when it crossed the finish line as the speed was way down. She goes to the number one spot...Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.846 sec., 330ft-2.147, 660ft-3.042/283.73 mph. Bernstein with a real nice pass, straight down the groove to the number four spot. Brandon Bernstein's incremental times: 60ft-0.834 sec., 330ft-2.143, 660ft-3.070/273.94 mph.

Left Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 3.794/322.81, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.953/306.81, Was #11
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 4.556/168.60, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.447/180.14, Was #14

alBalooshi keep it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number one spot. Khalid alBalooshi's incremental times: 60ft-0.851 sec., 330ft-2.155, 660ft-3.047/284.39 mph. Kalitta lost traction and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 3.843/320.36, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.894/315.64, Was #9
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.786/322.27, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.127/218.12, Was #12

It is the teammates here...both cars launch hard and keep the header flames shooting high into the air all the way down the track. Vandergriff goes to the number seven spot. Bob Vandergriff's incremental times: 60ft-0.864 sec., 330ft-2.181, 660ft-3.087/279.27 mph. Millican with his great looking pass goes to the number one spot. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.839 sec., 330ft-2.145, 660ft-3.038/284.33 mph.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.782/327.74, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.875/319.67, Was #9
Right Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 3.839/315.34, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.931/310.20, Was #12

Another great side-by-side drag race...Schumacher goes to the number one spot and has the fastest speed of the event, also. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.849 sec., 330ft-2.160, 660ft-3.045/287.29 mph. Torrence with another good looking pass to get off the bump spot. Billy Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.853 sec., 330ft-2.168, 660ft-3.075/279.56 mph.

Left Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 7.097/83.24, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.853/319.37, Was #10
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.796/318.24, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.923/306.12, Was #12

Massey is up in smoke right at the hit. Brown launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number five spot. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.844 sec., 330ft-2.147, 660ft-3.041/283.61 mph.

Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.761/326.40, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.826/322.65, Was #7
Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 6.563/105.83, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.875/309.70, Was #12

Langdon started this session in the number one spot and had got bumped down to the number seven spot. Langdon launched hard and keep it hooked up and hitting on all eight all the way down the track. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.836 sec., 330ft-2.124, 660ft-3.019/284.87 mph. Lucas is up in smoke early and clicked it off.
