MADISON, Ill. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Second annual AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Todd Tutterow Runs 8.719/105.37, Now #19; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Mike Janis Runs 6.262/199.85, Now #13; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 87 degrees, relative humidity 36 percent, barometer 29.56 inches, adjusted altitude 2,851 feet, track temperature 105 degrees.

Tutterow shook hard right off the starting line and clicked it off. Janis with a clean pass to get into the show. Mike Janis' incremental times: 60ft-1.026 sec., 330ft-2.670, 660ft-3.971/186.15 mph, 1,000ft-5.187.


Left Lane: Kenny Lang Runs 5.908/246.21, Now #2; Best prior run: 10.420/78.69, Was #21
Right Lane: Jim Laurita Runs 5.854/245.23, Now #1; Best prior run: 11.564/75.16, Was #24

This was a great drag race...Lang launched hard and was straight down the groove to go to the number two spot. Kenny Lang's incremental times: 60ft-0.987 sec., 330ft-2.618, 660ft-3.903/192.00 mph, 1,000ft-4.991. Laurita with a great pass as he keep it hooked up to go to the number one spot.

Left Lane: Mike Knowles Runs 5.978/243.63, Now #5; Best prior run: 9.894/84.46, Was #22
Right Lane: Ron Muenks Runs 6.676/161.98, Now #19; Best prior run: 10.873/88.88, Was #24

Knowles with a good pass to move into the top half of the show. Mike Knowles' incremental times: 60ft-0.995 sec., 330ft-2.660, 660ft-3.960/191.67 mph, 1,000ft-5.058. Muenks improves, but not enough to get in the show.

Left Lane: David Hance No Time, Now #23; Best prior run: 8.502/125.54, Was #22
Right Lane: Pete Farber Runs 6.738/139.26, Now #20; Best prior run: 10.770/77.31, Was #24

Hance broke and was pushed off the starting line. Farber was on a good pass and then about half track a big bang and a lot of smoke, but no oil.

Left Lane: Chris Juliano Runs 6.230/224.17, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.307/226.32, Was #17
Right Lane: Jason Hamstra Runs 6.316/187.36, Now #18; Best prior run: 8.313/112.78, Was #22

Juliano improves enough to get in the show. Chris Juliano's incremental times: 60ft-1.008 sec., 330ft-2.727, 660ft-4.097/179.88 mph, 1,000ft-5.242. Hamstra with a big pop around half track.

Left Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 5.924/243.68, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.068/238.13, Was #13
Right Lane: Steve Matusek Runs 10.253/114.87, Now #22; Best prior run: 6.931/222.00, Was #22

Smith launched hard and was straight down the groove. Rickie Smith's incremental times: 60ft-0.986 sec., 330ft-2.628, 660ft-3.912/193.65 mph, 1,000ft-5.002. Matusek is real loose right at the hit and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Clint Satterfield No Time, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.047/240.81, Was #13
Right Lane: Harold Martin Runs 6.042/236.34, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.513/171.05, Was #19

Satterfield didn't move after the light turned green. Martin with a good pass to get in the show and bump out Juliano. Troy Coughlin is on the bump spot at 6.176.

Left Lane: Dan Stevenson Runs 6.022/239.36, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.030/242.15, Was #12
Right Lane: Troy Coughlin Runs 5.944/249.67, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.176/212.73, Was #16

Stevenson improves on his run from earlier today. Dan Stevenson's incremental times: 60ft-1.008 sec., 330ft-2.684, 660ft-3.989/190.24 mph, 1,000ft-5.092. Coughlin was on real good pass until right in the lights when there was a lot of smoke. He still gets into the top half of the show. Troy Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-1.021 sec., 330ft-2.740, 660ft-3.986/198.32 mph, 1,000ft-5.044.

Left Lane: Adam Flamholc No Time, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.010/240.59, Was #10
Right Lane: Kevin Rivenbark Runs 8.083/0.00, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.091/235.10, Was #16

Rivenbark starts to shake the tires right at the hit and clicks it off. Flamholc started to get loose and then the car made a hard left and slammed into the wall hard head on. The car spun around and he the wall with the back of the car. The car then started barrel rolling and he barrel rolled around nine times. The word is he is conscious and was transported to be checked out.

Right Lane: Mike Castellana Runs 5.914/241.02, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.027/240.64, Was #13

Smith with a real nice pass to move up the ladder two spots. Castellana launched and keep it hooked up to go to the number three spot. Mike Castellana's incremental times: 60ft-0.972 sec., 330ft-2.604, 660ft-3.888/193.27 mph, 1,000ft-4.983.

Left Lane: Kevin Fiscus Runs 5.970/247.16, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.943/246.57, Was #7
Right Lane: Chip King Runs 5.949/248.25, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.026/248.11, Was #13

Fiscus with another good pass, but didn't improve. Kevin Fiscus' incremental times: 60ft-1.065 sec., 330ft-2.730, 660ft-3.989/197.36 mph, 1,000ft-5.061. King with a good pass to move up the ladder four spots. Chip King's incremental times: 60ft-1.039 sec., 330ft-2.717, 660ft-3.985/197.48 mph, 1,000ft-5.049.

Left Lane: Danny Rowe Runs 5.955/242.98, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.916/245.45, Was #4
Right Lane: Robert Patrick Jr. Runs 9.484/95.09, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.009/239.44, Was #11

Rowe with another good pass, but will not improve. Danny Rowe's incremental times: 60ft-0.977 sec., 330ft-2.638, 660ft-3.937/192.36 mph, 1,000ft-5.032. Patrick got real loose early and clicked it off.
