COMMERCE, Ga. -- Special awards from the 23rd annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals presented by Pontiac.

Best Appearing Car – Reid Construction 2002 Undercover Super Comp entry. Driver: J.D. Reid, Coyers, Ga.

Best Appearing Crew – 104+ Octane Boost Top Fuel dragster entry. Driver: Clay Millican, Drummonds, Tenn.

Hedman Hedders Best Engineered Vehicle Award ($1,000 to the best engineered entry) – Mullis Race Cars 2000 Mullis Super Comp entry. Driver: Brian Forrester, Parrish, Fla.

Budweiser Shootout At Pomona Award ($4,000 to the No. 1 qualifier in Top Fuel) – Brandon Bernstein, Lake Forest, Calif., Budweiser dragster, 4.505 seconds, 327.98 mph.

Budweiser Shootout At Indianapolis Award ($4,000 to the No. 1 qualifier in Funny Car) – John Force, Yorba Linda, Calif., Castrol Ford Mustang, 4.768 seconds, 320.13 mph.

NHRA King Demon Crown Award ($3,000 to the No. 1 qualifier in Pro Stock) – Greg Anderson, Concord, N.C., Vegas General Construction Pontiac Grand Am, 6.821 seconds, 203.00 mph.

K&N Filters Pro Bike Klash ($1,000 to the No. 1 qualifier in Pro Stock Motorcycle) – Geno Scali, Trim-Tex Suzuki, 7.181 seconds, 186.92 mph.

Motel 6 “Who Got the Light” ($1,000 to the individual Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock driver who earns a round win in eliminations by the narrowest margin.) – Warren Johnson defeated Kurt Johnson by 0.0022 of-a-second margin of victory in the quarterfinal round of Pro Stock eliminations.

Strange Engineering “Perfectly Strange” Performance Award ($250 bonus to the first racer in Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street who wins an elimination round by running dead-on their dial-in or index) – Mike Coughlin, Super Comp; Corky Markwart, Super Gas; and Lamar Stevenson, Super Street.
