BATON ROUGE, La. - 9:00 p.m. Sometimes you just can't win. We are on a rain delay at the Mardi Gras Nitro Jam. There was no mention of rain in the forecast, the weather radar was clear an hour ago, and a nice crowd was settling in for an evening of racing. Then unstable air over Baton Rouge blossomed into a large orange-and-red blob. The blob isn't moving, it's just growing. The blob eventually got big enough that the outside edge reached State Capitol Raceway just as the first round of the Nitro Jam competition was coming to an end. Well, not really the end, just the "Nitro" part of the show. Now we are being treated to a lightning, thunder and rain show. Spectacular, but that's not what the crowd was here for. Stay tuned, we'll let you know how this all turns out.
