CHANDLER, Ariz. - Notes from final, round 2 qualifying in Nostalgia Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 27th annual NHRA Arizona Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Tim Boychuk Runs 9.023/98.10, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.899/238.68, Was #3
Right Lane: Mark Hentges Runs 7.728/123.44, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.857/236.05, Was #2

Weather conditions: air temperature 85 degrees, relative humidity 18 percent, barometer 28.59 inches, adjusted altitude 3,380 feet, track temperature 122 degrees.

Boychuk starts to lose traction early and pedaled it, but was back up in smoke. Hentges was up in smoke and clicked it off.

Rupert kicked out the rods last night, and was on a planned shut off run here. Day almost matched his time from yesterday with another nice pass. James Day's incremental times: 60ft-1.015 sec., 330ft-2.647, 660ft-3.963/186.28 mph, 1,000ft-5.101.

Thompson launched hard and was yanking the front end at 330 feet, and then uses up an engine in the lights. Brad Thompson's incremental times: 60ft-0.974 sec., 330ft-2.553, 660ft-3.828/190.94 mph, 1,000ft-4.945. Powers improves...John Powers' incremental times: 60ft-1.086 sec., 330ft-2.792, 660ft-4.158/180.07 mph, 1,000ft-5.355.
