HEBRON, Ohio - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 39th annual Pontiac Excitement Nationals presented by Summit Racing listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Paul Lee Runs 6.205/186.90, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.866/245.63, Was #6
Right Lane: Thomas Frickenschmidt Runs 5.867/243.02, Now #7; Best prior run: 12.861/81.22, Was #12

Current weather conditions: 72 degrees, 85 percent relative humidity, the barometer 29.96 inches and the skies are looking like rain again.

Lee got out of the groove and over by the wall and finally clicked it off. Frickenschmidt with a good looking pass here and then has trouble getting it stopped and finally ends up in the sand trap.

Right Lane: Chuck Cheeseman Runs 5.748/248.29, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.755/137.86, Was #11

Patton was skating around and then finally collected the 1000-foot cone. Cheeseman was able to get it to hook up all the way down the 1320 to move into the top half of the show.

Left Lane: Marc White Runs 5.693/249.39, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.722/251.63, Was #2
Right Lane: Jim Sickles Runs 5.815/246.12, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.819/248.57, Was #5

White with another good looking pass here and Sickles almost identical pass from earlier today.

Left Lane: Jeff Craig Runs 5.787/248.07, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.856/249.39, Was #6
Right Lane: Mick Snyder Runs 6.072/214.83, Now #11; Best prior run: 10.841/87.35, Was #12

Snyder with good pass in his new Funny Car. Craig was lose on the top end but moves up a spot.

Left Lane: Andrew Tarr Runs 6.423/183.97, Now #13; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Frank Manzo Runs 5.666/256.06, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.671/254.04, Was #1

Manzo with another good looking pass here and Tarr was able to get down the track and in the show.

Left Lane: Todd Veney Runs 5.824/248.29, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.883/247.16, Was #9
Right Lane: Bob Newberry Runs 5.656/251.72, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.781/249.95, Was #4

A couple good passes here and Newberry straight into the number one spot and Veney into the top half of the show.

Right Lane: Steve Addleman Runs 5.983/239.10, Now #10; No Prior Run

Addleman didn't make a pass earlier today and he will get in the show with one more qualifying pass tomorrow.
