NORWALK, Ohio - Notes from final, round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, Fifth annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Alexis De Joria Runs 5.656/259.36, Now #2; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Brian Harvanek Runs 5.735/250.41, Now #8; Best prior run: 11.869/92.95, Was #19

6:39 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 78 degrees, relative humidity 48 percent, barometer 28.99 inches, adjusted altitude 3,001 feet, track temperature 102 degrees.

Harvanek went up in smoke on his first attempt. He gets the slicks to bite on this pass and gets in the field in the eighth spot. DeJoria was not able to make a pass on her first attempt but makes a great pass here to get in the second spot.

Left Lane: Lance Van Hauen Runs 5.826/246.93, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.982/148.94, Was #19
Right Lane: Chris Foster Runs 6.183/244.69, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.222/128.68, Was #20

Foster gets about 100 feet out, has to pedal and doesn't make the show. Van Hauen makes a good run and will get in the show in the 11th spot.

Left Lane: Brent Henry Runs 5.734/251.77, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.388/204.39, Was #20
Right Lane: Lou Sgro Runs 5.691/255.29, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.136/242.41, Was #18

A couple of good runs, both right down the groove. Sgro gets in the field in the fifth spot, Henry into the ninth.

Left Lane: Fred Tigges Runs 5.814/252.33, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.026/245.27, Was #17
Right Lane: John Anderika Runs 5.707/249.16, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.058/244.16, Was #19

Anderika makes a good run and gets safely in the field in the eighth spot. Tigges makes a decent pass and moves up to the 14th spot.

Left Lane: Paul Noakes No Time, Now #17; Best prior run: 5.900/242.67, Was #17
Right Lane: Cassie Simonton Runs 5.984/240.98, Now #19; Best prior run: 6.029/250.04, Was #19

Noakes doesn't make the call to the line. Simonton improves but not enough to get in the show.

Left Lane: Kris Hool Runs 6.341/172.61, Now #17; Best prior run: 5.880/254.18, Was #16
Right Lane: Ray Drew Runs 5.872/238.05, Now #16; Best prior run: 5.981/252.05, Was #18

Drew makes a clean run and gets in the show, bumping out Hool. Hool got way out of the groove, nearly crossing the center line a couple of times, first at half track, then again just before the 1000 foot mark.

Left Lane: Tony Bogolo No Time, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.792/240.42, Was #13
Right Lane: Thomas Carter Runs 5.671/256.16, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.718/256.84, Was #9

Bogolo doesn't make the call to the line. Carter makes a decent pass to move up to the fifth spot.

Left Lane: Dan Pomponio Runs 5.736/251.67, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.750/252.14, Was #12
Right Lane: Mickey Ferro Runs 5.613/256.11, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.704/255.48, Was #8

Ferro drifts out of the groove, gets close to the wall near the end of the run, but never backs off the throttle and moves all the way to the second spot. Pomponio makes a decent pass but stays in the 12th spot.

Left Lane: John Bojec Runs 5.651/253.56, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.663/253.95, Was #4
Right Lane: Todd Veney Runs 6.736/148.67, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.700/256.36, Was #8

Veney has problems around half track and slows. Bojec makes a decent pass and moves up a notch to the third spot.

Left Lane: Fred Hagen Runs 5.627/257.53, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.671/257.73, Was #5
Right Lane: Frank Manzo Runs 5.667/260.01, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.549/262.69, Was #1

A couple of nice runs, both right down the groove. Hagen moves up a couple notches to the third spot, Manzo hangs on to the top spot.
