Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Final Session

NORWALK, Ohio - Notes from final, round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, Fifth annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 10.709/84.33, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.603/209.36, Was #9
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.605/209.17, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.602/208.88, Was #7

Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 59 percent, barometer 28.96 inches, adjusted altitude 2,602 feet, track temperature 82 degrees.

These are the runs from the first round of the K&N Horsepower Challenge...Krisher shook right off the starting line and clicked it off. Anderson was straight down the groove, but will not improve. Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-0.985 sec., 330ft-2.777, 660ft-4.256/166.81 mph, 1,000ft-5.530.


Left Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 6.663/199.43, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.587/209.07, Was #1
Right Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.596/208.84, Now #6; No Prior Run

Brogdon pushed in the clutch early...Edwards with a real nice pass to get into the top half of the show. Mike Edwards' incremental times: 60ft-0.982 sec., 330ft-2.756, 660ft-4.238/166.39 mph, 1,000ft-5.517.

Left Lane: Shane Gray Runs 6.621/208.52, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.616/208.23, Was #13
Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 12.090/72.06, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.602/209.20, Was #7

Johnson with a lot of tire shake right off the starting line and clicked it off. Gray with a good pass, but will not improve.

Left Lane: Erica Enders Runs 6.585/209.10, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.591/209.36, Was #3
Right Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.589/208.17, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.589/208.68, Was #2

This was a good drag race with Enders going to the number one spot...Erica Enders' incremental times: 60ft-0.971 sec., 330ft-2.750, 660ft-4.230/166.52 mph, 1,000ft-5.508. Line matches his qualifying time and will get bumped down one spot. Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.973 sec., 330ft-2.752, 660ft-4.232/166.48 mph, 1,000ft-5.509.

Left Lane: Mark Hogan No Time, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.183/145.53, Was #21
Right Lane: John Gaydosh Jr No Time, Now #23; Best prior run: 15.293/94.96, Was #23

Hogan with a lot of tire shake right off the starting line and then stopped on the track when he saw all the action in front of him by Gaydosh. Gaydosh started drifting out of the groove over by the center line and then the car, around half track, made a quick right and slammed into the wall. The car bounced off the wall and spun a one and half times to the right and then bounced off the left wall and spun around half a turn. He is out of the car and the report from the top end is he is okay.

Left Lane: Bob Benza Runs 6.715/205.66, Now #20; Best prior run: 6.693/205.76, Was #20
Right Lane: Frank Gugliotta Runs 6.760/204.76, Now #22; Best prior run: 11.464/76.83, Was #23

Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 58 percent, barometer 28.98 inches, adjusted altitude 2,563 feet, track temperature 93 degrees.

Gugliotta makes a big move in the right direction, but not enough to get in the show. Benza slows from his time from earlier today and he will not get in the show.


Left Lane: Steve Kent Runs 6.639/207.21, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.644/207.11, Was #19
Right Lane: Steve Schmidt Runs 6.696/205.85, Now #21; Best prior run: 6.725/204.42, Was #21

Kent with his quickest pass, but will not get in the show. Kent will miss the starting on Sunday in short career for the first time. Schmidt improves, but not enough to get in the show.

Left Lane: Steve Spiess Runs 6.644/206.80, Now #19; Best prior run: 6.639/206.80, Was #18
Right Lane: Richard Freeman Runs 6.604/208.14, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.643/208.17, Was #19

Spiess slows from his earlier time and he will not get in the show. Freeman with a real nice pass to get in the show all the way up to the number 11 spot. Richard Freeman's incremental times: 60ft-0.977 sec., 330ft-2.756, 660ft-4.239/166.05 mph, 1,000ft-5.522.

Left Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.620/208.39, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.624/208.10, Was #16
Right Lane: Buddy Perkinson Runs 6.643/207.43, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.625/207.88, Was #17

Perkinson just got bumped out and now with his shot to get back in. Perkinson slows from his time earlier today and he will not get in the show. Johnson improves and moves up the ladder one spot to get off the bump. Kurt Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.764, 660ft-4.253/165.48 mph, 1,000ft-5.538.

Left Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.600/208.49, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.615/208.30, Was #13
Right Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.625/208.23, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.622/207.82, Was #16

Stanfield will not improve and will start on Sunday from the number 16 spot. Morgan launched hard and keep it hooked up to get into the top half of the show. Larry Morgan's incremental times: 60ft-0.975 sec., 330ft-2.754, 660ft-4.237/166.15 mph, 1,000ft-5.519.

Left Lane: Ronnie Humphrey Runs 6.646/207.53, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.592/208.94, Was #5
Right Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.693/207.69, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.611/208.91, Was #13

Neither driver will improve on their earlier times...

Left Lane: Vincent Nobile Runs 6.603/208.26, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.592/209.07, Was #4
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.605/208.84, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.602/208.52, Was #10

This was good looking drag race to wrap up qualifying...Vincent Nobile's incremental times: 60ft-0.971 sec., 330ft-2.753, 660ft-4.239/165.90 mph, 1,000ft-5.523.
V. Gaines' incremental times: 60ft-0.987 sec., 330ft-2.766, 660ft-4.247/166.19 mph, 1,000ft-5.526.
