Special awards from the NHRA SuperNationals.
K&N Filters Horsepower Challenge award ($3,000 to the No. 1 qualifier in Pro Stock) -
Jason Line, Mooresville, N.C., Summit Racing Pontiac GXP, 6.508 seconds, 212.19 mph.
Best Engineered Vehicle - Michael Cerro, Super Comp entry, 1963 Corvette, Mineola, N.Y.
NHRA Best Appearing Car - Wally Zalak III, Super Stock entry, 1971 Corvette, Huntington,
N.Y.
NHRA Best Appearing Crew - Terry Haddock crew, Funny Car entry, ACME Refining Toyota,
Temple, Texas
Perfectly Strange Awards:
Super Stock: Dean Ribeiro, Candia, N.H.
Stock Eliminator: No winner.
Super Comp: Don Higgins, Mapleton, Ill.
Super Gas: Pat Dehner, Smithtown, N.Y.
Super Street: Richard Knarich, Lake Katrine, N.Y.
Full Throttle Hard-Working Crew Award ($3,000 each to Top Fuel and Funny Car, $1,500 to Pro
Stock and $750 to Pro Stock Motorcycle for the crews that are recognized as the hardest working of
the event):
Top Fuel: Spencer Massey crew, FRAM/Prestone dragster, for making 23 consecutive runs
without losing traction and for winning the race.
Funny Car: Cruz Pedregon crew, Snap-on Tools Toyota Camry, for qualifying No. 1 and beating
Jack Beckman despite not having lane choice.
Pro Stock: Allen Johnson crew, Team Mopar Dodge Avenger, for making the final round and
providing the engine for fellow Mopar driver Vincent Nobile's team to also advance to the final
round.
Pro Stock Motorcycle: Matt Smith, Al-Anabi Racing Buell crew, for defeating Screamin' Eagle
Harley-Davidson teammates Andrew Hines and Eddie Krawiec in consecutive rounds in eliminations.
