Underdahl was quicker off the starting line but he did not have enough bike for the track. Hines took the lead just after 330 feet and went on for the win.

A red light by Finley gave the win to Savoie, who had a perfect reaction time.

Smith got out of the gate a couple hundredths ahead of Krawiec and pulled away on the track to take the win. He'll have lane choice over Hines in round three.
