LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 10th annual NHRA Las Vegas Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Derrick Townes Runs 6.443/230.96, Now #2
Right Lane: Randy Walker Runs 6.334/222.44, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 71 degrees, relative humidity 24 percent, barometer 27.96 inches, adjusted altitude 3,449 feet, track temperature 94 degrees.

Walker was straight down the groove...Townes is skating around and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Billy Harper Runs 11.119/77.12, Now #4
Right Lane: Pat Musi Runs 10.416/84.52, Now #3

Harper got real loose and did good job of driving to get the car to settle down. Musi got out of the groove and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Chip King Runs 10.971/78.73, Now #5
Right Lane: Mike Knowles Runs 6.040/237.38, Now #1

King started to spin the tires early and the car started to get sideways before he clicked it off. Knowles with a good looking pass, straight down the groove. Mike Knowles' incremental times: 60ft-0.991 sec., 330ft-2.643, 660ft-3.967/187.86 mph, 1,000ft-5.091.

Left Lane: Dennis Radford Runs 6.138/229.16, Now #3
Right Lane: Roger Burgess Runs 5.984/242.89, Now #1

A couple good passes here....Burgess launches hard and keeps it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Roger Burgess' incremental times: 60ft-0.995 sec., 330ft-2.647, 660ft-3.955/190.40 mph, 1,000ft-5.057. Radford with a good clean pass to go to the number three spot. Dennis Radford's incremental times: 60ft-0.999 sec., 330ft-2.671, 660ft-4.014/183.84 mph, 1,000ft-5.162.

Left Lane: Joe Baker Runs 6.158/232.11, Now #4
Right Lane: Rick Stivers Runs 6.853/231.99, Now #7

Stivers spun the tires right on the launch and pedaled it one time. Baker with a little wiggle early and then was straight down the groove. Joe Baker's incremental times: 60ft-1.013 sec., 330ft-2.691, 660ft-4.040/183.24 mph, 1,000ft-5.189.

Left Lane: Mike Janis Runs 8.136/107.16, Now #9
Right Lane: Raymond Commisso Runs 5.987/242.41, Now #2

Janis got real loose around half track and clicked it off. Commisso launched hard and was straight down the groove with a great pass to go the number two spot. Raymond Commisso's incremental times: 60ft-0.993 sec., 330ft-2.643, 660ft-3.951/190.70 mph, 1,000ft-5.056.

Right Lane: Jay Payne Runs 6.026/238.30, Now #4

Troxel launched hard and keep it hooked up to go the number one spot. Melanie Troxel's incremental times: 60ft-0.977 sec., 330ft-2.611, 660ft-3.908/191.73 mph, 1,000ft-5.002. Payne with a nice pass to start the weekend. Jay Payne's incremental times: 60ft-0.995 sec., 330ft-2.642, 660ft-3.958/187.86 mph, 1,000ft-5.080.

Right Lane: Ed Hoover Runs 6.058/234.21, Now #7

Personett blast on through the quarter mile to the number two spot. Brad Personett's incremental times: 60ft-1.029 sec., 330ft-2.710, 660ft-3.981/197.13 mph, 1,000ft-5.043. Hoover gets into the top half of the show. Ed Hoover's incremental times: 60ft-1.005 sec., 330ft-2.644, 660ft-3.966/186.48 mph, 1,000ft-5.099.

Right Lane: Kenny Lang Runs 6.051/239.06, Now #7

Coughlin got real loose right off the starting line and clicked it off. Lang with a nice pass to start the weekend, straight down the groove. Kenny Lang's incremental times: 60ft-1.001 sec., 330ft-2.664, 660ft-3.989/187.86 mph, 1,000ft-5.109.

Right Lane: Von Smith Runs 5.984/242.06, Now #4

Rowe with a nice pass to go to the number six spot. Danny Rowe's incremental times: 60ft-0.994 sec., 330ft-2.657, 660ft-3.967/190.51 mph, 1,000ft-5.072. Smith with a good pass until on the top end when he had a little wiggle. He still goes to the number four spot. Von Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.009 sec., 330ft-2.646, 660ft-3.946/191.38 mph, 1,000ft-5.052.
