Special awards from the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals.
K&N Filters Horsepower Challenge award ($3,000 to the No. 1 qualifier in Pro Stock) -
Jeg Coughlin, Delaware, Ohio, JEGS.com Chevy Cobalt, 6.592, seconds, 208.97.69 mph.
NHRA Best Appearing Car - Doug Foley, Dote Family Racing dragster, Sewell, N.J
NHRA Best Appearing Crew - Permatex / Follow A Dream Top Alcohol Funny Car entry. Driver:

Perfectly Strange Awards:
Super Stock: Bobby Rashid, Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.
Stock Eliminator: John Lovins, Dayton, Ohio
Super Comp: Steve Fields, Carleton, Mich.
Super Gas: Steve Hoyt, Fort Wayne, Ind.
Full Throttle Hard-Working Crew Award ($3,000 each to Top Fuel and Funny Car, $1,500 to Pro
Stock and $750 to Pro Stock Motorcycle for the crews that are recognized as the hardest working of
the event):
Top Fuel: Larry Dixon wins the race and during the day beat Tony Schumacher, his nearest
competitor in the points standings.
Funny Car: John Force makes it to the final round after qualifying in the 16th position. He
beat his daughter Ashley Force Hood in the first round and lost in the finals to Tim Wilkerson.
Pro Stock: Greg Anderson gets a double up bonus for winning not only the event but also the
K & N Horsepower Challenge win. He won $50,000 for the K & N Horsepower win and an extra $25,000
for the bonus.
Pro Stock Motorcycle: Steve Johnson gets his second career No. 1 qualifier, his first in 15
years.
