BRISTOL, Tenn. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 10th annual NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run: Left Lane: Jeff Arend Runs 4.560/195.85, Now #8; No Prior Run 8:08 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 85 degrees, relative humidity 43 percent, barometer 28.46 inches, adjusted altitude 4,007 feet, track temperature 111 degrees. rend had to shut down before he made his first pass so he isn't on the ladder yet. Arend starts out with a good looking pass, then strikes the tires about 700 feet
out and has to back off the throttle but he runs good enough to get in the eight spot for now. Left Lane: Melanie Troxel Runs 4.239/289.26, Now #1; No Prior Run Right Lane: Paul Lee Runs 4.321/275.34, Now #5; No Prior Run In the first round, Troxel hit the throttle and the car nosed over. The culprit turned out to be the blower drive. Lee did not make a pass in the first round. No problems for Troxel on this pass, right down Broadway with a
very impressive run to take the top spot for now. Lee makes a decent pass and gets in the show in the fifth spot for
now. Left Lane: Jim Head Runs 4.475/204.45, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.936/159.32, Was #13 Right Lane: Tony Pedregon Runs 4.340/269.29, Now #8; No Prior Run Pedregon did not attempt a run in the first round. Head had traction problems about 400 feet out. Pedregon
makes a decent pass, no apparent problems, and he gets in the top half of the field for now. Head has problems late in
the run and he backs off the throttle. Left Lane: Ron Capps Runs 4.244/284.45, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.923/160.14, Was #14 Right Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 4.159/291.38, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.598/124.75, Was #15 Pedregon makes a nice pass here and takes the top spot by a bunch. Capps was ahead at sixty feet but Pedregon drove around him soon after. Ron Capps' incremental times: 60ft-0.909 sec., 330ft-2.359, 660ft-3.393/246.84

Left Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 4.238/283.67, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.920/171.47, Was #15 Right Lane: Del Worsham Runs 4.186/300.80, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.493/199.49, Was #13 A good side-by-side, Wilkerson gets to the sixty foot mark first, then Worsham motors by soon after and pulls away to move into the second spot. Left Lane: Robert Hight Runs 5.649/132.23, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.326/252.33, Was #10 Right Lane: John Force Runs 4.216/297.55, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.391/264.49, Was #13 Hight had the second quickest sixty foot time of the session so far but got about 300 feet out and broke the tires loose. Force went right down the groove and moves into the third spot. Left Lane: Matt Hagan Runs 4.185/292.58, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.311/274.72, Was #9 Right Lane: Jack Beckman Runs 4.199/297.35, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.333/278.58, Was #12 Two good looking runs, both down the middle of the track. Hagan goes all the way to the second spot, Beckman moves up to the fourth spot. Left Lane: Ashley Force Hood Runs 4.151/296.70, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.289/267.43, Was #10 Right Lane: Bob Tasca III Runs 4.307/245.18, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.250/252.33, Was #9 These two started out the session in the top two spots and have dropped all the way to ninth and tenth. Force-Hood makes an impressive run and moves from the tenth spot to number one and picks up three bonus points. Tasca's car was a little sluggish off the line then shut down before he crossed the finish line. Ashley Force Hood's
incremental times: 60ft-0.908 sec., 330ft-2.343, 660ft-3.338/258.47 mph.
