Pro Modified Qualifying Notes, Session #1

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 41st annual NHRA SuperNationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Pat Musi Runs 7.577/193.85, Now #1
Right Lane: Dina Parise Runs 14.947/54.91, Now #2

7:23 p.m. - Both drivers launched and both shook the rear tires. Parise clicked it off, Musi pedaled one time.

Left Lane: Tommy Gray Runs 6.075/238.47, Now #2
Right Lane: Raymond Commisso Runs 5.815/250.64, Now #1

Commisso had his career best ET with a nice run down the quarter mile. Gray's run was almost as good.

Left Lane: Brad Personett Runs 6.106/249.44, Now #4
Right Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 5.980/241.63, Now #2

Smith's car had a bit of a shimmy at mid track, but otherwise this looked like a nice run. Personett's pass looked good but was not up to speed.

Left Lane: Mike Knowles Runs 14.097/58.79, Now #7
Right Lane: Mike Castellana Runs 5.906/240.55, Now #2

Knowles spun the tires coming out of the gate. He tried to stay with it but eventually backed off the throttle. Castellana's run looked clean from the tower.

Left Lane: Scott Ray Runs 5.928/237.59, Now #3
Right Lane: Roger Burgess Runs 5.964/245.49, Now #4

Ray set his season best run with this run. This was Burgess's first run in NHRA Pro Mod competition.

Left Lane: Chip King Runs 5.972/237.92, Now #5
Right Lane: Tim Tindle Runs 5.995/237.46, Now #7

King carried the front wheels in the air for 200 feet or so. When he brought the front end down, the car drifted out of the groove. Tindle had a bit of shake and drove through it.

Left Lane: Ed Hoover Runs 5.943/242.23, Now #5
Right Lane: Tony Pontieri Runs 5.938/243.55, Now #4

Hoover drifted a bit out of the groove but stayed with it.

Left Lane: Mike Janis Runs 5.941/242.89, Now #5
Right Lane: Rick Stivers Runs 7.703/125.99, Now #14

Stiver drifted out of the groove and backed off the throttle. Janis took his car down the groove.

Left Lane: Joe Baker Runs 11.525/88.76, Now #16
Right Lane: Dennis Radford Runs 6.009/234.49, Now #11

Baker launched, shook the tires, pedaled it, got out of the groove, then clicked it off. Radford got out of the groove too but got back in to finish the run.

Left Lane: Melanie Troxel Runs 7.138/205.57, Now #15
Right Lane: Troy Coughlin Runs 5.921/239.44, Now #3

Troxel got the front wheel in the air out of the gate. She pedaled it, brought the front wheels down, and got back onto the throttle to finish the run. Coughlin took his Camaro down the groove to move into the third spot in the order for now.

Left Lane: Jay Payne Runs 14.350/48.12, Now #21
Right Lane: Kenny Lang Runs 5.957/243.37, Now #8

Pane launched and shook the tires, so he clicked it off. Lang had a cleaner run to sneak into the top half of the order, for now.

Left Lane: Danny Rowe Runs 5.848/249.26, Now #2
Right Lane: Von Smith Runs 5.980/244.78, Now #12

Rowe had a clean run to move into the number two spot.
