8:15 p.m. Last pair and the result has no bearing on the team championship, which goes to a tiebreaker between Divisions 1 and 5. The second tiebreaker gives it to Division 1. Whiteley is from Division 7, Cowie from Division 6, both are blown alcohol dragsters.

Cowie was sharp on the tree, but Whiteley once again had the Norm Grimes tuneup in his favor and he came from behind to take the win. Jim Whiteley's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.029), 330 ft(-0.015), 660ft(0.002), 1,000ft(0.019). MOV: 0.0367 seconds (approximately 14 feet).
