Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Session #2
By Larry Sullivan

JOLIET, Ill. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 13th annual United Association Route 66 NHRA Nationals presented by Miller Welders listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 7.111/182.55, Now #10; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.265/178.57, Now #14; No Prior Run

12:27 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 76 degrees, relative humidity 67 percent, barometer 29.05 inches, adjusted altitude 2,926 feet, track temperature 86 degrees.

Though only the top twelve got to keep thewir time from last night, the order for this session is based on last night's elapsed times, slowest first.

Both riders made clean runs, Stoffer's straight down the middle.

Left Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 6.969/189.02, Now #2; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Redell Harris Runs 7.166/183.62, Now #15; No Prior Run

Gann made an awesome run for the conditions, all the way to the second spot. Harris' time may not hold up - there are 18 bikes here, so two of them will end up outside the field.

Left Lane: Gary Moreno Runs 7.425/175.89, Now #17; No Prior Run
Right Lane: LE Tonglet Runs 6.971/189.55, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.138/189.28, Was #14

Moreno was way off the pace today. Nice run by Tonglet, third-best so far.

Left Lane: Angie Smith Runs 6.982/185.84, Now #5; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.105/184.14, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.120/184.57, Was #13

This time Smith's new bike gave her the run she hoped for, a solid effort. Berry will be in the field, but well down the ladder.

Left Lane: Wesley Wells Runs 7.137/181.67, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.132/186.33, Was #15
Right Lane: Jim Underdahl Runs 7.087/183.64, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.084/189.47, Was #12

These two were in the twelve-bike field after the first session...both ran within thousandths of their prior run.

Left Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 7.006/186.54, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.023/188.75, Was #9
Right Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.999/187.86, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.045/190.22, Was #11

The two Harley teammates surprised everyone with off-pace runs last night. This session was better, but they should be further into the sixes.

Left Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.016/188.17, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.011/192.66, Was #10
Right Lane: Matt Smith No Time, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.027/189.66, Was #11

Smith rolled into the water, then the crew and rider started ripping the bodywork off and they finally pushed it to the side.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 6.998/190.75, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.011/192.77, Was #9
Right Lane: David Hope Runs 7.030/183.00, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.971/188.31, Was #4

Nice run by Johnson, no help for Hope.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Runs 6.948/192.30, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.989/189.23, Was #6
Right Lane: Craig Treble Runs 6.932/188.96, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.960/190.27, Was #1

Nice runs, a pair. Treble stays #1, but he had to outrun Arana to do so.

Hector Arana's incremental times: 60ft-1.076 sec., 330ft-2.891, 660ft-4.433/158.33 mph, 1,000ft-5.784.
Craig Treble's incremental times: 60ft-1.063 sec., 330ft-2.866, 660ft-4.401/158.91 mph, 1,000ft-5.754.
