No improvement for Matthews-Baugues. Sullivan made a full
pass, but the numbers just were not there. Left Lane: Redell Harris No Time, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.206/185.28, Was #19 Right Lane: Rhett Lougheed Runs 7.530/177.58, Now #23; No Prior Run Harris broke on the burnout and did not make a run. Lougheed did make a run, but was way off the qualifying pace. Left Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 8.880/99.15, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.202/188.52, Was #18 Right Lane: Gary Moreno No Time, Now #22; Best prior run: 7.302/179.85, Was #22 Oh-for-two. Moreno's bike kept going left, taking out the 660-foot speed-start timing block. DeSantis saw him coming and backed off. Left Lane: Freddie Camarena Runs 7.032/191.21, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.050/192.03, Was #15 Right Lane: James Surber Runs 7.205/184.37, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.224/184.04, Was #20 Surber is the last rider with a chance to bump into the field. He came up short, but Camarena once again carded a
career-best ET to move one rung up the ladder. Left Lane: Junior Pippin No Time, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.039/189.52, Was #15 Right Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.105/189.39, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.175/183.57, Was #17 Pippin broke on the burnout and was pushed away. Left Lane: Craig Treble Runs 6.968/192.19, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.007/190.00, Was #11 Right Lane: Bailey Whitaker Runs 7.047/187.83, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.095/183.67, Was #16 Treble made a nice run (with a 0.003 reaction time to boot) to move way up the ladder. Whitaker also improved, with a career best ET and speed, but stayed 16th. Left Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 6.981/193.46, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.001/192.99, Was #11 Right Lane: Jim Underdahl Runs 7.023/190.83, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.032/191.59, Was #13 Good run for Phillips and another career-best ET for Underdahl, moving him up a notch. Left Lane: David Hope Runs 7.026/189.15, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.992/186.95, Was #10 Right Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.857/128.16, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.024/190.06, Was #13 Hope made a good pass, but failed to improve. Johnson's bike was off-pace from the start and moving to the left, so he shut it off. Left Lane: Larry Cook Runs 7.158/187.78, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.987/188.96, Was #9 Right Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.959/193.68, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.995/193.13, Was #11 Cook had a great launch, with a 1.075 60-foot time, but Krawiec went by early and Cook slowed. Krawiec made his best pass of the weekend to move into third. Left Lane: Andrew Hines No Time, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.986/192.33, Was #9 Right Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 6.951/191.57, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.973/190.24, Was #7 Hines' bike lost traction on the launch and he shut it off, slowly rolling down the track. Gann made a great pass to move into second spot, with the quickest run of the session so far and a career-best ET. Left Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 7.207/190.48, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.969/192.36, Was #7 Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 7.126/163.29, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.963/192.30, Was #5 Smith's bike lost power with a puff of smoke in the middle of the run. Stoffer had good early numbers, but the bike hit the rev limiter at an early shift. Left Lane: Hector Arana Runs 6.943/191.10, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.918/193.46, Was #1 Right Lane: Douglas Horne Runs 7.012/191.00, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.956/191.57, Was #3 Last pair. Arana made a good run, best of the round, but not quite as good as his earlier pass. That gives Arana
another three bonus points, Gann gets two, and Krawiec salvages just one.
