POMONA, Calif. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 44th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals:

Stanfield is 8 - 2 against Gaines in prior events and he moves the score up another notch, as Gaines has a wiggle down low and can't keep up the pace. He clicks it off early.

This is the first time Connolly and Jones have faced each other in eliminations and Jones gets the upset win. Connolly is away first and then goes into major tire shake. It's all over at that point, so he gives it up after sixty feet.
