POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 44th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Ben Watson Runs 12.418/70.50, Now #14; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.677/208.59, Now #9; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 80 degrees, relative humidity 16 percent, barometer 28.94 inches, adjusted altitude 2,794 feet, track temperature 101 degrees.

Johnson puts the big power to the track and moves to near the top half half of the field and the new top speed of the meet. Watson's car gets wacky off the line and he has to lift.

Both cars slide into the current field, but it's not likely to last. Panella cards the first sub-one second sixty-foot time.

Right Lane: Rickie Jones Runs 6.675/206.51, Now #8; No Prior Run

Jones finally gets it all to the ground and moves to the top half of the field. Gray improves, but he don't move up the ladder.

Right Lane: Richie Stevens Runs 6.692/206.13, Now #13; No Prior Run

Both cars make good passes into the current field. Jim Yates is on the bump spot at 6.697.

Yates moves off the bump and Deceglie gets in for now.

Say "Hello" to your new #1 qualifier. Anderson wasn't the strongest off the line but has the power to take over the top spot for now with a big MPH.

KJ uses the big Johnson power and takes over the current #2 spot with a nice clean pass. That pushes Connolly down to #5.
