DINWIDDIE, Va. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Third annual Virginia NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Tim Boychuk Runs 3.906/304.80, Now #8; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 74 degrees, relative humidity 56 percent, barometer 29.97 inches, adjusted altitude 1,616 feet, track temperature 91 degrees.

Boychuk making his first pass of the weekend and he makes his quickest and fastest pass in the 1000-foot era. He gets into the show and that bumps out Vandergriff. Tim Boychuk's incremental times: 60ft-0.842 sec., 330ft-2.164, 660ft-3.111/267.22 mph.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.815/305.56, Now #1; Best prior run: 8.267/80.51, Was #14

Kalitta with a great looking pass until right in the light when it pushed out a head gasket. He still goes to the number one spot and that is fifth quickest pass in the 1000-foot era. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.832 sec., 330ft-2.138, 660ft-3.035/279.50 mph.

Left Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 4.240/265.69, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.225/96.64, Was #14
Right Lane: David Grubnic Runs 6.266/96.33, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.778/151.02, Was #13

Grubnic loses traction right off the starting line and clicks it off. Vandergriff loses traction early and is on and off the throttle at least three times trying to get into the show. He doesn't get in...

Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 3.890/307.30, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.964/297.02, Was #11

Todd lost traction right off the starting line and clicks it off. Lucas with a good clean pass to move up the ladder a couple spots. Morgan Lucas' incremental times: 60ft-0.865 sec., 330ft-2.184, 660ft-3.108/273.66 mph.

Cory Mac with his quickest pass of the 1000-foot era and he moves into the top half of the show. Cory McClenathan's incremental times: 60ft-0.846 sec., 330ft-2.153, 660ft-3.068/273.88 mph. Herbert improves on his time from earlier today and move up the ladder a couple spots. Doug Herbert's incremental times: 60ft-0.854 sec., 330ft-2.180, 660ft-3.099/275.51 mph.

Right Lane: Rod Fuller Runs 3.853/312.78, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.866/310.27, Was #8

Fuller improves and moves up the ladder a couple spots, but he had the best seat in the house to watch Schumacher run the quickest pass in the 1000-foot era and second fastest pass of the 1000-foot era. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.829 sec., 330ft-2.115, 660ft-3.010/280.60 mph.
Rod Fuller's incremental times: 60ft-0.852 sec., 330ft-2.169, 660ft-3.080/276.35 mph.

Right Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 3.816/312.06, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.853/308.64, Was #8

Brown lost traction right off the starting line and bang the blower with a quick flash of flames. Dixon launched hard and keep it hooked up all the way through the 1000 feet to go to the number three spot. Larry Dixon's incremental times: 60ft-0.836 sec., 330ft-2.138, 660ft-3.044/277.83 mph.

Right Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 3.824/312.71, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.853/309.84, Was #8

Bernstein with a nice pass to move up the ladder a couple spots. Brandon Bernstein's incremental times: 60ft-0.837 sec., 330ft-2.138, 660ft-3.051/276.13 mph. Will with another great looking pass to move into the number two spot. This is her career best E.T. and mph and the second quickest and 10th fastest in the 1000-foot era. Hillary Will's incremental times: 60ft-0.834 sec., 330ft-2.133, 660ft-3.033/279.38 mph.
