Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #2

CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Inaugural NHRA Carolinas Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.808/204.76, Now #22; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Bob Benza Runs 6.824/202.39, Now #23; Best prior run: 6.858/202.79, Was #22

Weather conditions: air temperature 82 degrees, relative humidity 70 percent, barometer 29.41 inches, adjusted altitude 3,130 feet, track temperature 102 degrees.

Krisher with a lot of tire spin right off the starting line and he will not be happy with this pass. Benza improves, but not enough.

Right Lane: John Nobile Runs 6.730/205.82, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.755/206.04, Was #19

Nobile made a quick move toward the centerline right off the starting line, but reeled it in. He makes a move in the right direction, but not enough. Johnson said it broke something about 1200 feet on this run.

Left Lane: John Gaydosh Jr Runs 6.931/198.96, Now #26; Best prior run: 6.945/198.99, Was #26
Right Lane: Richie Stevens Runs 6.731/205.38, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.747/205.76, Was #20

Stevens improves, but not enough to get into the show. Gaydosh improves, but stays No. 26.

Left Lane: Jim Cunningham Runs 6.854/200.50, Now #25; Best prior run: 6.902/200.14, Was #25

Jones with a big wiggle right off the starting line and he doen't improve. Morgan made a big improvement here, but not enough to get into the show. Larry Morgan's incremental times: 60ft-1.007 sec., 330ft-2.824, 660ft-4.332/163.65mph, 1,000ft-5.633

No help here for Hammonds. Naylor picks up, but only moves up the ladder one spot to No. 21.

Spiess with real nice pass and he gets into the show for now. Steve Spiess' incremental times: 60ft-0.993 sec., 330ft-2.812, 660ft-4.322/163.47mph, 1,000ft-5.622 Mansfield with a wiggle right off the starting line, and he doesn't improve. He is now on the bump.

Stanfield improves, but still gets bumped back one spot by Edwards. Edwards with the quickest pass of the session to move into the number four spot. Mike Edwards' incremental times: 60ft-0.993 sec., 330ft-2.801, 660ft-4.307/163.57mph, 1,000ft-5.606

Gaines almost matches his time from earlier today. Gray picks up and he gets into the show and that bumps out Allen Johnson. V. Gaines' incremental times: 60ft-0.999 sec., 330ft-2.805, 660ft-4.313/163.69mph, 1,000ft-5.616

Steve Spiess is on the bump spot at 6.717.
