ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - Results of round 3 eliminations in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 39th annual Lucas Oil NHRA SuperNationals: Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed 23 Keeter Ray 1 Frank Manzo E3 0.081 27.732 68.63 ****WINNER**** 0.033 5.568 253.90 Prior rounds: E2 (W Morris ) 0.137 5.687 252.52 (E Lourie ) 0.041 5.616 255.53 E1 (D Roman ) 0.110 5.739 251.67 (S McNiece ) 0.309 5.589 260.01 Qualified: #13 5.838 248.84 #1 5.532 263.87Ray is Manzo's 187th different opponent and this is the first time Ray has been past the second round at a national event. What can you say - Manzo had a great light and a strong run, back into the fifties after falling all the way off to a 61 in the
second round. Ray overpowered the starting line trying to pick up the tenth of a second he needed to have a chance against Manzo and
the race was over right at the start. Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed 33 Marty Nothstein 6 Mickey Ferro E3 0.038 5.645 257.04 ****WINNER**** 0.034 5.572 259.46 Prior rounds: E2 (D Cox ) 0.046 5.776 252.05 (M White ) 0.092 5.603 258.07 E1 (J Headley ) 0.051 5.607 259.26 (L Sgro ) 0.069 5.593 258.62 Qualified: #2 5.566 261.72 #6 5.688 227.04Ferro figured to have a slight performance advantage here, but Nothstein's team has reached a new level of performance this weekend. Both drivers had great lights, thyen Ferro's apparent performance edge took over and Ferro pulled away to a car length
victory. However, he lost lane choice to Manzo - but lane choice doesn't appear to be a major factor this weekend.
