Hines did a really bad job of redlighting and that sealed the deal, Sampey unable to stay with the Vance & Hines V-Twin.

Krawiec had a small starting line advantage, but Rivas had the lead before half track and he will have lane choice against the other Harley-Davidson in the semifinals. Ellis is 7 - 4 against Johnson in prior events. Johnson had a huge holeshot going for him, but Ellis ran him down before half track and won easily to get lane choice against Smith in the semifinals.
