POMONA, Calif. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 43nd annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals:

Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 29 percent, barometer 29.02 inches, adjusted altitude 2,435 feet, track temperature 95 degrees.

Brown is making perhaps his last start on a Pro Stock motorcycle today after being announced as the new driver for the Matco Tools Top Fuel Dragster in 2008. He's 19-11 against Treble. Treble is starting his 140th race. Treble is -.006 rad and Brown gets the first round win.

Ellis is 64-44 for his career. Pippen on the other hand is making his first ever NHRA start. Pippen also becomes the 165 different rider to make a start. He has announced plans to run the entire tour in 2008. Pippen just nails Ellis to the starting line but has problems with his bike at half track.

Krawiec is 14-14 for his short career but is 1-0 against Guidera. Guidera is making his 34th start. It's dead even at the start but the Harley power pulls out the win on the top end. Eddie Krawiec's MOV: 0.0459 seconds (approximately 13 feet).

Stoffer is 5-2 against Johnson, who's making his 21st start at this event. Johnson gets a pretty good lead at the start but Stoffer was around him before 1000ft.

Llewellyn is hoping to unknot her 17-17 record with a round one win over Arana. Arana goes red and Llewellyn goes on.

This is the twenty first time that Hines has qualified for one of these events #1. Strangely enough it's only his second of 20907. Gann is a surprising 5-2 against Hines. Hines with the win gets a step closer to the title.

Sampey is 21-5 against Scali and an astounding 342-124 for her career. This is the last time she will be appearing under the Army banner and has not announced any plans for the 2008 season. This is Scali's 146th start. Sampey gets the light and the win.

This is just the second start ever for Angie McBride as she qualified at the Gainesville event in 2004. She becomes the 25th rider faced by Smith. The ride is down for this season for McBride, but next year? Who knows. Next round looks like this: Smith over Llewellyn; Hines over Brown; Sampey over Stoffer and Krawiec over Ellis by .006.
