LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Seventh annual ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.779/202.64, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.832/200.08, Was #19
Right Lane: Tom Hammonds Runs 12.445/85.02, Now #26; Best prior run: 12.813/66.37, Was #26
12:22 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 83 degrees, relative humidity 18 percent, barometer 28.06 inches, adjusted altitude 3,874 feet, track temperature 95 degrees.
Hammonds has problems off the line and clicks it off. Edwards makes his quickest pass of
the weekend to get in the show.
Left Lane: Gordie Rivera Runs 6.853/201.13, Now #21; Best prior run: 6.900/199.94, Was #24
Rivera improves but not enough to get in the show.
Left Lane: Ben Watson Runs 6.807/202.39, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.872/200.62, Was #23
Right Lane: Gene Wilson Runs 6.817/202.55, Now #20; Best prior run: 6.873/200.77, Was #24
Watson makes a big improvement and gets in the show for now. Wilson improves but is still a little behind the pack.
Left Lane: Todd Hoerner Runs 6.812/201.52, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.866/199.64, Was #24
Right Lane: Bob Panella Runs 6.833/202.79, Now #23; Best prior run: 6.835/202.18, Was #22
Hoerner gets a little out of the groove and loses a little time. No help for Panella.
Left Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.757/203.89, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.815/200.35, Was #20
Right Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.757/204.66, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.826/203.28, Was #22
A grat side by side, both right down the groove and have identical ET's. Johnson moves into the third spot with the faster speed.
Left Lane: Craig Hankinson Runs 6.794/202.76, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.811/202.09, Was #19
Right Lane: Matt Hartford Runs 6.784/203.34, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.815/202.55, Was #21
Hartford makes a big jump and gets into the field in the 12th spot. Hankinson gets in the show...but he is on the bump.
Left Lane: Jim Yates Runs 6.757/203.49, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.807/202.21, Was #20
Right Lane: Max Naylor Runs 6.755/202.55, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.788/201.04, Was #14
Naylor makes a great run here to move up to the third spot. Yates runs the third 6.757 this round and gets in the show in the sixth spot. Jeg Coughlin is on the bump spot at 6.790.
Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.752/204.51, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.790/203.00, Was #16
Right Lane: Kenny Koretsky Runs 6.773/203.34, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.805/202.67, Was #19
Coughlin just got put on the bump...but not for long. He goes right down the groove with his quickest pass of the session and moves all the way to the second spot. Koretsky gets back in the show in the 13th spot. Matt Hartford is on the bump spot at 6.784.
Left Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.757/203.58, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.786/203.03, Was #17
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.773/203.65, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.796/202.52, Was #19
The lucky number seems to be 6.757, Morgan runs the fourth one this round to get in the show. Gaines is just a little behind and gets in the field for now.
Left Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.749/203.98, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.781/203.28, Was #17
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.732/205.01, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.766/203.92, Was #11
A couple of really good runs, Anderson takes the pole for now but we still have a few cars left that are capable of taking it away. Johnson makes his quickest pass of the weekend to move into the second spot.
Left Lane: Richie Stevens Runs 6.755/203.95, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.769/202.97, Was #14
Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.750/204.14, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.766/203.37, Was #13
We now have ten cars in the 6.75's, positions 3-12.
Left Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.746/204.08, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.765/203.68, Was #14
Right Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.727/205.22, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.761/203.77, Was #13
Two more impressive runs, Line takes the top spot putting the Summit cars one and two for now with two to go.
Left Lane: Dave Connolly Runs 6.725/205.57, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.754/203.98, Was #8
Right Lane: Justin Humphreys Runs 16.478/48.83, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.750/204.05, Was #6
Last pair. Humphreys makes a hard move to the right at the hit and has to abort the run. Connolly goes right down the groove to take the top spot and put the Summit cars on the same side of the ladder.
